Trim Bezel Around Manual Shifter
Trim Bezel Around Manual Shifter
I was at a car show this weekend and saw a brushed aluminum trim bezel around the manual shifter on an 08 Bullit and it looked really good. I was wondering if anyone had retrofitted one of these to their GT. I was interested in the cost and the part number if anyone has it.
This is the "premier" package ring, not sure if its the same as the bullit?

Yep, same as on the Bullitt. And yes, it will fit a regular GT just fine....Not cheap, and not aluminum.....LOL...

Also, keep an eye on E Bay.

Although the satin ring is the same, the part number is different for the Bullitt because the hole in the boot is smaller for the Bullit's slimmer shift lever to pass through.
It will fit on any 05-09 Mustang, including automatic models if you remove the boot material.

I bought the factory Bullitt boot and bezel assy while it was still cheap, Ford part# 8R3Z 7277 CB, it now retails for $191.98, I paid $82.00. it fits great, because of the smaller opening for the shift lever I do not need the grommet for the boot to fit my Hurst shift lever, you can check it out in my images

Wow - and we charge only 69.00 for our Tru-Billet Aluminum piece in satin anodized finish - what were we thinking when we came up with that ridiculous pricing for our parts? I mean it's cool and all to play with OEM parts and make them work where they weren't originally intended, but I always used to do it with the less expensive alternative, not the one at 3x the price of what was already available...

Good salesmanship promotes the benefits of their product without insulting the competition or making their potential customers feel like fools for considering otherwise.
Anyway, some of us choose the OEM parts because we want something that does looks OEM and in most cases we are willing to spend a little extra for it.
when I bought it I didn't think $82.00 was a bad price considering it came with the OEM boot and the fit was perfect, but I don't think I would shell out $191.98 for it, I most likely would opt for something from A/M sources.
After the condescending sarcastic tone of that post I now know for sure where NOT to buy some accessories I am planning to buy.

Seeing people spend (or be asked to spend) this kind of coin on a plastic trim ring just pushed me over the proverbial edge. That said, there are always options when making your purchase, and you are free to purchase your products from whoever you feel gives you the best total value for your hard-earned dollar.

To further point this out - understand that we're about to release a part (unrelated location) that is about the same size and weight as the bezel in question. I plan on the RETAIL cost to be under 10.00 for this part, and we're only making 1k at a time of them. Imagine if we applied Ford's economy of scale to it what our cost per piece to produce would be?

I've been into Mustags since before I had a license to drive, and I grew up working on my first Mustang with a shoestring budget. In true hot-rodder style, taking an OEM part that wasn't specifically made for an application and making it work somewhere else is a large part of what our hobby is based on. That said, the normal way is to go find something (like a brake assembly) from say a Lincoln at a cheap price, fit it to your Mustang, and have the performance of a high-end setup at a lower cost than what is available on the market. In contrast, here you're taking a piece that costs a ton more than what is available through the aftermarket, and modifying it to fit, but it can't be as good as what is already available based upon the design (shape) of the part.
Sometimes it is difficult to post here because I have to be aware that I am always representing our company in some fashion, and I am not into the "pen name" posting that some other companies employ in forums. In this particular case, I was trying to point out that there are better options than this for the price available, and yes, in this case we make one of those options. But even if we didn't, I think the post still would've been the same - $200.00 (or whatever they are actually asking for this) is highway robbery. But if you feel it is a fair price, and others agree with you, then by all means go for it.
Funny part is, after re-reading the thread, I realized I missed post #2 which basically showed other options for less coin. If I had seen that on my first read, I probably wouldn't have even posted in the first place because the point was made by someone else. I just missed it in-between the pictures at the top of the thread...
Rony, thanks
Watchdevil had a point that my delivery was a bit "off" on this post, but my message is still the same - it's just not a good cost / benefit ratio on this part, but that's just my personal opinion on it...Ok, back to watching the water rise... On edit, we're at 20.6 inches for two days rain, and they say we might get 30+ by the time it is done... at this rate you won't be able to by our products if you wanted to, because they will be part of the Atlantic ocean!

MC....does the song "Row, row, row your boat" play through your head every day? I can't imagine the stress and disorder you are having to deal with these past few days. A few friends are trying to stem the tide as well. My brother was finally able to get to his condo in Sarasota, half of his roof shingles blown off...
Anyway...I had both the Ford piece and the SHR piece side by side, on and off the car. Wife simply said the SHR piece looked much nicer, and she wanted to be able to see the shifter indicator. While some have removed the boot from the bezel for the SHR effect, just seem'd to be too much of an expense to lay to waste.
For anyone looking for the cheapest method of obtaining the silver trim bezel....PAINT IT!
MC...I thank you for all your efforts your company have put forth since 2005. Hope you dry out with no further damages.

We made it okay, it was too close to call as if you've seen the news about where the national guard went in and then got stuck themselves - that's the same road our shop is on! Water made it to the front garden, but did not come in the doors. The drains were all backed up, but the rain did subside late today, just in time.
Made it in today with the F350, no damage at the shop to speak of, but we'll be running short staff until Monday. Roads are still a mess, and UPS and FedEx haven't been by for a couple days now. Maybe tomorrow they will be by to pick up again.
