Tint Quote- Just wanted to fill people in

I was quoted $240 for all windows w/ moleskin felt installed minus the windshield for my 06 GT in the San Diego area. Good deal, or should I look else where? Last time I was in the market for a tint, I got moleskin and tint for a sedan all around for around $300, so I think this might be a little high.

actually not a bad price. when was the last time you got tint? prices have come up a lot in the last couple of years, tint is just more expensive to buy. Just make sure its a reputable shop and quality tint. We charge 245 for a stang all windows but this does not include the felt (we're located in N. County SD), that is an extra 30 a door, but we use top of the line film, with a lifetime warranty even against purpling. where did you get quoted at? if you dont mind me asking.

As an FYI, I was quoted 265 for tint, moleskin, and no questions asked warranty in the Atlanta area.

I thought turning purple was the result of using amonia based cleaners... such as Windex.

all tint will eventually turn purple, well anything with dye in it that is, which all but the latest stuff has, the newest stuff (which is called extruded film) is a completely non-metalized and non-dyed tint, which doesnt give you any mirror like effect and is suppose to never turn purple. I dont know if the latter is true since I have not seen any tint of this kind old enough yet. But if you are getting 5-6years out of your tint you are doing well. Stay away from the cheap stuff (all dye) that will turn purple fastest. Then the stuff which most shops use (around the 230-250 price range) is the partial metalized and partial dyed, we use this at my shop. It last a long time and is warrantied against purpling, but it will eventually turn purple since it has dye, but the manufactuer will cover its replacement, if you still have the car. I have seen it on cars after 6-7 years and only slight fading and no purpling yet. But most people dont own a car for more than 5 years. the new stuff which some shops are now offering as their top of the line is pricing out around 260-275 for an entire car.

LOKIUS: I called Ace Window to find out what they were offering, they are offering a metalized/dyed tint as their high end but qouted me 210 for an 05 and 50 for the felt, the low end they priced at 170 and 50 for the doors. You are in RSF and I am assuming on the east end since you called a shop in Escondido, I am in Encinitas and if you can wait a week we can get you in for 180 or 185 (I forget the price I worked out) if you say you are part of SoCalStangs (of which if you are interested in doing meets and fun stuff Ill PM you with details; I also bartend in Encinitas and invite the club in all the time, especially for Monday Night Football, but we can talk later about that). It will be for all of the windows, any shade, metalized/dyed film (I am working on getting some of the new extruded stuff as well) with a lifetime warranty, but the owner is still asking the 30 a door for the felt (if I had any extra myself I would hook it up as a favor before you came in). So that would be 240-245 for the entire thing all done, which looking back at your first post is what you were qouted at the other shop, so its up to you, its a good price if they stick to it and its the metalized/dyed tint. I have called around and compared and the going rate is about 240-260 for that film in North County. Good luck, let me know how it goes or what you go with, and if youd like we can do it for you as well, either way hit me up about the club and we can get together sometime.

BTW, I also detail!

I got the tint installed today, this is my 3rd vehicle being tinted there, and they actually gave me a ceramic non-metallic based tint which would have been about $30 more, and they gave me it for the $240 cash out the door. Job looks great and I am happy with it, moleskin and everything is in place and they did a great job.

Rrobello, I am definently interested in the meets and meeting other mustang enthusiasts, I work in Rancho Santa Fe and the Gaslamp, and my family has three restaurant/bar locations throughout San Diego County, so I am moving around quite a bit, send me a PM and let me know what is planned in the near future.

LOKIUS does yours have a body kit or anything done? if not I may have seen you, I go into the ranch quite often and have seen a black GT on several occasions, always in the opposite directions. You would know my car because of the full limo tint and loud exhuast.
