So the new GT500 has the tach and speedo swapped around from the current Mustangs as that is the more logical place to have them. IE, the tach will be in the right pod, allowing you (well ME at least) to look right down at the tach when driving / shifting easier than having to look to the left to do it.

Can this be done with the current gauge cluster? I have no idea how these things are built, they may be one big piece, or they might be two individual assemblies in the pods, in which case it sounds feasible that these could be swapped.

Anyone have a clue?

Here's the opinion of someone who's been driving mostly stick: you shouldn't have to look at the tacho to know when to shift! Get to know your car and yourself, and you'll know when to shift, regardless of where and how you're driving. Like any sports car driver in Europe will tell you, a car is driven with your eyes, ears and butt.

On the other hand, I agree with you on the pod swap. For some reason, it seems more logical to me too, although I cannot quite explain why...

Perhaps you misunderstand me, I don't look at the tach in order to tell when to shift. This isn't the first stick that I've driven in my life either. I do however look at the tach often while driving to gauge my speed, as I have had several vehicles who's speedo's were on the fritz. Old habit I guess.

I do look at the tach if I've getting on it really hard. No need to bounce off the rev limiter now is there?

To answer your question, no. The gauge cluster is one piece. You MIGHT be able to put the GT500 cluster if/when it's avail.

It seems like a natural arrangement to me since my focus had speedo on the right and tach on the left.

My old 68 had speedo on the left and tach on the right - kinda wish the 05 was the same way.

That was one of the first things I noticed about the '05. It sure would be nice if we could put them back the right way.
Anyone come up with anything yet.
