I finally got the time to run my install today. By far, this was the easiest car to do an install in Ive done yet, and Ive done alot of cars. 30 minutes and my new headunit was in. An hour later, I had RCAs run and was starting to run my remote lead and power wire when I came to a brick wall - The subs wont fit in the trunk! Twisting and turning and pushing and pulling, there was no way I was going to get that box in the trunk. I tried getting it in through the backseats.. no success.
So heres my question - For those who've put boxes in the back, how in the world did you get it in there?

havent really looked at my 05 back seats into the trunk, but on my 94 I had to take apart the whole back seat assembly where it meets the trunk and still had to do a little metal shaving...but my box is HUGH 2 JL audio 12s I only have a couple inchs from the back of my box to the end of my trunk.....

Ok, first you start by saying you have done tons of installs. Somehow you over looked getting the subs into the trunk? First rule of thumb to a good installation...never use a store bought sub box and that is what I have to assume you are trying to use. If you are going to do it right you need to custom build a box. What size subs are you using?
On a side note, anything is possible if you know what you are doing. I put 6 JL 15w6's in the trunk of a 1995 Cavalier Z24. The box was built piece by piece inside the car. Warning.....do not try this at home. Doing so may result in a warped trunk lid from the air pressure trying to escape

Its 2 JL 15w6s in a custom built box. The box wasnt built for this car, but my old hatch. I took measurements of the box and the hole, but failed to account for something. The trunk is so oddly shapped is whats getting me.
Building a box IN trunk is possible, but hard, time consuming, and generally not worth it. It usually results in shoddy craftsmanship and using PVP pipe for porting. Not my style.
something doesn't sound right with the specs of that box. It shouldn't be taking up that much room
its actually 2 12" JL audio w6s in a separated, sealed box but ive got both my amps attached to the back of the box...theres about 6 inchs of space on each side, maybe 4 inchs on top, and about 8 inchs from the end of my amps to the back of the trunk..the specs are fine for w6s and my friend that works in a stereo shop says its the hardest hitting mustang hes ever heard.....

They're in a sealed box, single encloure.

Sounds like what I did in my 95 coupe. I measured the maximum box inside the trunk, built it, took it apart and reconstructed it inside the car. Worked like a charm. Had to saw it in two to get it out when I sold the car though...

You may have to assemble it in the car or go with a different box or setup. I went with a MTX1204 12" in a ported box, it fits nicely in the truck and has a nice thump. I also installed the amp under the rear deck between the rear speakers. Good Luck.
