Sub Setup?
I have been thinking recently that i wouldlike to add some bass to the back of my car. I really know nothing about audio and i was wondering if anyone here has a setup in their mustang with maybe 1 or 2 10s and a nice amp to power them. Also are there any boxes that fit in the corners of the trunk nearest the rear? That seems like the best place to mount the subs in order to take up the least amount of room. I would like to spend no more than $300 an I have the shaker 500 if that helps. Thanks for any input you have.

How much bass do you want? Some people are happy with one 10" while others feel nothing less than 2 12"s will do. I remember seeing a corner-fit box for a 10" a couple years ago. I have Infinity's "Basslink" self-powered 10" sub mounted in the corner. It's plenty for me.

I have a single 12" Kicker in the back sitting in a custom-fit box I purchased from Scosche that tucks in by the tail light nicely. I'm not a big bass fan so my bass controller is never above 25%. Its powered by a 300w mono-amp from Fosgate. I originally meant to put a Fosgate sub in the box, which I did check with Scosche to make sure it would fit, but then it didn't because the rings Fosgate subs use to secure the subs in didn't fit into the box. Otherwise, i'm happy with it.

Those both seem like very good setups. I saw the basslink but thought that i dont want to buy a setup and then be disappointed by the lack of bass. That is why i was thinking i would go with two tens but one 12 might work for me seeing that it fits relatively well in the corner. Antigini, would you mind posting a link to that box and possibly to your amp and sub as well? That would help me a lot.

If you want deeper bass the Scosche box is the way to go. The Basslink just provides a little low-end boost to the relatively weak stock stereo. For my taste that's plenty, the car already rattles enough with just the engine running.

I've got the same setup as Antigini. I like it. I've got a Polk sub in the Scosche box with a 300 watt amp also. Good bass. Anymore would rattle the heck out of the car. I've also put dynamat all over the trunk and it helps too. I got the box and everything from Crutchfield BTW.

I didn't dynamat the trunk at all and the rattle is minimal, again probably because I don't have the bass level too high. If you're wanting more than a little extra oomph, i'd suggest dynamating if you weren't before. There are several different custom-fit enclosure Scosche offers. Go to their site(scosche.com), fill in your vehicle info and go from there.

I'm going with a single 10" kicker shallow sub in it's own box, with a 400 w rms amp. we'll see how it handles. should be done by the end of the month.
