Thanks Al!

Just noticed - the e-mail is 'suppor', not 'support'?

Cheers!

I assumed it was a typo. Just fired off an e-mail detailing my GPS problems. Maybe they can help.

Hey guys I have been following this thread for awhile cuz i might want to try this in my 06. Has anyone tried installing the newer nav systems? I think I would like the newer style but am not sure what issues I might run into.

According to Jim. This isn't possible without a lot of work. I wanted to do it initially byt was told it wouldn't work in our cars.

Don't be so skeptical. Read the thread. There is progress being made.

Edit:

Nevermind. I see you posted there already.

In terms of the nav, there is nothing but to wait for Brad. But in terms of getting the 10-14 wheels to work with all functions, maybe. I see that you guys are still trying to work out getting sync to work through the wheel. My big challenge will be getting the cruise control to work.

Actually, there is something. None of you by chance have the female pig tail connector that plugs into the back of the instrument cluster?

I can use that. I also need one from a 05-09 car. Matt needs them. Ford does not sell these connectors separately. They only sell connectors upto 16 pins. I e-mail TE Connectivity to see if they can be bought from another supplier. Otherwise, anyone wanting these will have to hunt the wreckers - and so far the wreckers I contacted will not cut up their harnesses but sell them whole only.

Hmm. So the connectors are different between 05-09 and 10+?

Ok guys, I am back on the Forum after some two months of nothing. Sorry, I haven't answered many emails, but I had some problems with my EX, that kept me tied up and unable to answer anyone. Ok, I'm back, so if you still need any answers, that I can furnish, then PM me and I'll try and answer them now.

How many have done this mod and how did it work for those who did? My system has worked flawlessly since I put it all together and got the bugs worked out of the original wiring to the ACM. I managed to get SYNC to work from the microphone, using the button on the steering wheel. I know others haven't had such luck, but the (used) SYNC module I installed, cured that particular problem.

The best combination of parts and pieces, show that a Job 2 head, with the 14D212 SYNC kit, and a used (9 prefix) BC or CB SYNC module, seems to work without any malfunctions or problems. At least with what records I've been able to keep.

Anyone else, who has done this, please list what units (numbers) you used and if you have or had any problems that were symptomatic, or reoccurring. Maybe we can make a quick start list for people to make this a very quick, one time install.

WOW! Unbelievable. 10,000 hits in 7 months. Thanks for the help of everyone who got involved. This turned out to be a winner as a project. I'm glad I was able to help and also thankful to the guys who got involved. Everyone is a winner in this endeavor. I've had over 30 emails, stating how they followed the directions, (except those that couldn't figure the correct switch, mentioning no names, and achieved the results that they were looking for. Poor Harold & Paul, lol. Oh yeah, no names. lol

Stay tuned for the next thing, modding of the 2010 up mirrors, using the 2013 puddle lamps. I still need a few pictures of the attachment of the in-cabin wires, but otherwise it is ready to post up soon. It could work in the 2005-09 mirrors also, I just haven't made that try as of yet.

I've also completed the Saleen headrest insert vents. I did it all at home, including the cutting and mounting them into the factory GT headrests. That post also, will be coming up soon.

Jim. Do you have pictures of the plugs that are needed in both instances? I have 5 harnesses that have been stripped down to the connectors. I have several different 26 pin connectors. If you have the pics I most likely have the connector you want.
