For those of you saying that you can get an aftermarket system cheaper...I agree you can, but you can also get aftermarket stereos that are more expensive too. I had a friend who spent $4,000 on his stereo. So while the $1200 upgrade for the shaker 1000 may seem expensive it's basically in the middle price range of what an aftermarket system would cost. My opinion is that the shaker 1000's sound quality will be better than the 500 and the fact that it comes installed from the factory is a great bonus to me.

Just my 2 cents

If you want to spend an extra $1200 to get a radio that has a pounding bass, so your stang sounds like a ghetto cruiser, then get the Shaker 1000.
Sounds exactly like the low-lifes driving down my street!

Except they have it in a crappy 80's Honda. [/b][/quote]
:notnice: So do you consider a person that makes close to $100,000.00 a year a low life? Just because you "think" people that have bass and like to play music that way does not make them a low life. It looks like some people need to be a little educated on the subject. Sure some people have stereo equipment that costs more than their car but who cares, that is their perogative.

As for others not understanding why people need more power it is simple. If you took 2 systems, lets say one with 500 watts and the other with 1000 watts (an all other components are the same such as the speakers). Put both of them at 50% volume. The one with more power will sound much clearer. Also the 500 watt system will distort sooner than the other. Wattage isn't everything.

If you are a true audiofile such as myself you will understand that clean power (RMS) beats out Peak Power anyday.

I have the Mach 460 in my car and I put a different cd player in the dash when I bought it. I'm going to change it out again for something newer when I get back that has Sirius radio ready to go.

Wish frankly they would outlaw them darn sound systems that make your house windows shake as a kid drives by with some darn rap **** on...and oh how i love it when i pull up too a light and someones thumbing away next to me,there just nothing quiet as much fun as that! Now if i could just get ford to release a good old 8track player again,i would be in luck :-)
 I don't think they should be outlawed, however I do think the owner of the car should respect the people around him/her. I have won several car stereo competitions (stereotype me if you want). How loud can a system get. How does pulling your car into a garage and cranking the bass enough to cause the flourescent lights fall out of their sockets, or warp the trunk lid on a 95 Cavalier Z24. Yes, that is impressive. However, I only do that stuff to win cash and prizes. Sure when I drive around I have a little thumpity thump thump going on but I always turn it down when I am at a stop sign, street light, intersection or anywhere I see people outside that it might upset. Heck, when I am sitting at a stop light I normally hear the music from the car next to me.

So I really wish everyone would stop putting all "stereo lovers" in the same category.

Well, you are in a small group of people that have respect for others when driving.

Hmmm, I find it difficult to believe anyone changes their volume at every stop sign and intersection to be courteous... this means everyone else who is on the street hears the obnoxious, indecipherable sound of your "muzak". How about just closing the windows and THEN turning up the volume? I find this makes you deaf, but hey!- you can't win them all

We are comparing the shaker 1000 & 500, nothing to do with how everyone's musical tastes annoy others. (It annoys me as much as you guys, that's why I need to get a set of MAC mufflers, pull infront of them and rev it)

I am sorry that my question promted the debate on mustical tastes. I love all kinds of music, and I respect those whose tastes may be different than mine. I am glad, however, we can all agree on John Denver.

I am happy to know that my newly built and, yes--soon to be delivered--GT will have the shaker 1000. I understand that some people have the expertise to have an aftermarket system installed, but I am not that knowlegeable about car stereos.

I just needed to talk about something different since I have been having a recurring nightmare about birds and hail while my stang sits patiently to come to its new and safe home.

But our friends here always do the trick!

for the money it cost for the 1000 you can get a better aftermarket setup which will be more powerful. thats my 2 cents

just go to a professional installation source, as my last aftermarket squeeked, vibrated and made several other noises even when the power was off. the shaker 1000 will be designed for the car and shouldn't be heard until turned on.

I'm going aftermarket myself. I can get a very good sounding system put together for about $800.

.. Just to make this clear, it's so I can listen to:
-Pink Floyd
-Eminem
-Tool
-Aerosmith
-Bone
-Audioslave
-Browns games when I can't watch them on TV
-etc
... Stereotype me

Right now in my 6 disc 460 I have 2 Tool cds, 3 Pink floyd cds and the audioslave cd ... B)

:flame2: Sounds like you are calling me a liar. Thanks.

Anyway, other than adding 2 subs and an amp the shaker 1000 doesn't offer too much more. Does it sound better than the Shaker 500, of course it does. For about half the price you can add an aftermarket amp and subs that will do the same if not better. However, I did order the SHaker 1000 because I am financing some of the car so it will be cheap in the long run. Besides, it costs about $2,000 in Canada for the 1000 system. With that amount sunk into financing I can spend the cash on RIMS and Tires instead.

Let's not forget resale value, a Shaker 1000 will be a sought after factory option when it becomes time to sell your 05, if that need ever arises that is....

I thought I read that the Shaker 1000 had premium speakers? Is this true, or is it just the addtional 2 subs in the trunk and the extra 500 watts to power them? If it is the latter, the Shaker 500 is the better bargin. I need all the trunk space I can get.

At the 40th anniversary show, Ford had a door panel of the SN95 system and the new Shaker 500 door panel and they demoed music using both systems. The 500 is a significant improvement in sound quality, even at lower levels than the SN95 is. The sub chambers built into the door panels make a huge difference.

shaker 1000 sought after for arftermarket sales on the mustang... hardly likely that someone 5 years down the road is going to care what stereo is in the mustang. But go ahead and finance that extra 1000 dollars cause come trade in time it might be worth 300 dollars. You do the math...

But the same logic can be applied to an aftermarket system. Go ahead and spend that $1000 on an aftermarket system cause it might be worth 300 at trade in time. Your logic doesn't make sense. The difference is that a factory Stereo like the Shaker 1000 will have more of a resale value then a comparable aftermarket system.

You can keep your aftermarket system and put it in another car. The $1200+ you spend on the Shaker 1000 can't be transferred to another car.

I am thinking about getting the shaker 1000 and tossing the subs and buying (2) 10 JL AUDIO subd to replace the factory ones. I have heard one of the mach 1000 in a 2004 GT, It sounds good but the subs distort at high volume. I believe that the JL 10WO seried will work just fine. plus they will take all the power that you can throw to them from the factory amps.

As you can tell from my previous posts, I am all in favor for buying the Shaker 1000, but why would you spend all that money if you are just going to throw half of it away. You would be better off getting the Shaker 500 and buying your amp/subs seperate.

that is so true but then you have to pay to get a box built and installed with all of your new and or existing components. I for one would love to have JL amps and subs but, with the factory amps, something goes wrong with fuse or wiring, under warranty.... I am pretty sure that the factory will not harm the jl subs. besides the subs will go deeper and louder than the factory, thats the only reason for my upgrade.
