Question Shaker 500 vs 1,000?

I was wondering about these two sound systems. Are they just the same head unit named differently? One has 500 watts for 6 speakers. And the other has the same plus another 500 watt amp for two subs in the trunk?

I'm really wondering the difference here. I mean, if the inside speakers are beefed up a bit with the 1,000 watt system, that's the way to go. But if not, and the additional 500 watts go's to the subs in the back, it sounds like a waste. I mean why not save the money from upgrading to the shaker 1,000 and use it towards an aftermarket system?

What do you guys think? Is the shaker 1,000 worth the price tag? Or would you get the 500 and place a nice and much louder sub in the spot where the subs fit so nicely in the back with the 1,000 watt system?

I guess it all depends on my first questions. Is the only difference between the systems another 500 watt amp powering the two subs in the back? Or does the 1,000 watt system add more power and sound to the 6 interior speakers? Let me know what you guys think. I'm really stuck on this one.

If you have the ability to install an aftermarket sub, then get the Shaker 500 and upgrade on your own. The shaker1000 is a ripoff.. you can get the same bass for a fraction of the cost, or an unreasonable/ridiculous amount of bass for the same cost.

To answer your question: Yes, the only differences between the 500 and the 1000 are:
* one or two extra amps that add up to 500watts to power the trunk subs
* slightly different head unit (probably with trunk sub volume control) and different words pasted on the front
* None of the other speakers are changed between the 500 and the 1000

Also, if you want the custom fit trunk-space saving enclosures, look for:
MTX Thunderforms and Scosche.. they both have custom fit 12" sub boxes that fit in the same area the shaker 1000 subs go. I think there's a Saleen box out there that fits better than the first two, but it costs about 4 times as much.

Or get one of these. Goes right where the Shaker 100 sub would go and takes up less than half the space.

actually the shaker500 is also a ripoff, but it's standard on the california special model. You can replace the midbass driver subs in the doors for slim 8" subs. A salesman at Al & Ed's Autosound replaced the shaker500 subs with 8" kicker slim subs on a 2005 Roush stang. He had to work it a little bit to fit, but eventually got it to work.

Usually factory stereo speakers and subs suck because they can't nearly handle the same kind of power that aftermarket speakers and subs can do!

That looks like it's 100% identical to the Saleen thing. I think they even used the same photo and chopped the logo out. Compare:

Makes sense since they are both made by Rockford Fosgate. So the one on CDC was $550. How much more does Saleen get for their logo?

Stage3 Motorsports is selling them for $499. Don't know what list is.

Yeah, stay away from the 1000 and get an after market box. Smaller space, more base, spend less. Then swap out the Shaker 500 for a real stereo, almost any aftermarket will be better. I've still got 4 cd's stuck in mine.
