Question to someone who may have upgraded the base stereo unit to the shaker 500.

My problem is that it reads CD error on the screen and I cant figure out why. Some research has yeilded the fact that these need to be programed to the car. Is this true? Is there any way around taking it in to the dealer to have it re-programed? Help!
I just wanted the CE changer option without spending an arm and a leg. I am more of a performance junkie so the stereo isn't all that high on my list of importance. That being said I would like to have the option of more than one CD at my disposal.

 

Boy 25 views today and no response. This must be a real tricky delima I have gotten myself into. I guess I will pave the way for others who may suffer the same peril!

 

Have you tried resetting the unit?

 

Has to be done at Ford. Talked to the installation guy today at BHF he says they will have to re-flash the unit to make it work..

 

Yeah, I have the same issue. I have to take it into the dealer to get it fixed. It happened when I unplugged my battery.

 

twice when i was driving, my stereo just completely reset itself, and would not work. all my presets vanished, the time got effed up and none of the functions would work. It started working once i reshut the car off, and turned it back on...but i still had to add back my presets and change the time.....So glad i think i have a d3 coming for bday/xmas !!!
