Scott Drake Sill-Plate Accent Strips - Question?
Has anybody installed these things? I just got a set. They go in the grooves in the door sill plates. I think they will look pretty good.
The instructions say to seal them in there with silicone adhesive, but the strips already have double sided adhesive backing. It might get a little messy with the added silicone adhesive.
If you've put them in, let me know how you did it.
Thanks.

no. well, both were my fault. first one, i didnt realize that one side of the strip was flat and the other rounded. so i stuck it on reversed. when i pulled it off to put in on correctly, it wasnt so sticky anymore. one other one, i put it a little crooked. when i tried to fix that one, it didnt stick well anymore.
so, basically as long as you get it right the first time (which isnt too hard) you should be fine. i was just too excited to wait until morning and put them on at night in a poorly lit garage.
i wish they gave a couple extra strips for idiots like me.

Clean with a Amonia Windex first... then use a green scrubber to scuff up the
plastic and clean out all the dirt. Wash with hot water and dish soap to remove all the dirt and grease. When dry wipe it all with a cloth and alcohal.
Do these easy steps and this will be permanent. Good Luck

Hey Gary, been there, done that. I know the feeling all too well
I just put the things in this afternoon, and in my opinion, you need the silicone adhesive. I cleaned out the grooves with alcohol (didn't see your post earlier Intruder). I was working in the sun so everything was warm. I put the strips in, but they hardly stuck at all.
I put a thin bead of silicone adhesive in each groove, put masking tape over them, left them for about two hours, peeled off the tape and they were OK.

me? i wish!! lol. just getting little things here and there since i can't get real mods right now. what i really want next is a suspension, but will probably end up getting touch-up paint instead. lol.
oh, but the mail lady did just deliver my shr honeycomb taillight panel today . that magnetic panel thingy in the back had to go.
back on topic, i took off the loose strip. i guess the other one wasnt as bad as i thought. i scraped off the old adhesive and put on a new strip of 3m emblem tape. stuck that on and it seems to be holding pretty tight now. gotta check it in a couple days to be sure.
