Satin Aluminum Interior Trim

When I bought my 06 GT last August, I was unable to find a color that I wanted with the Interior Upgrade Package, which includes the satin aluminum trim panels. To make a long story short, I would like to add the satin aluminum panels to my car.

I talked to my dealer, and they said that I would have to buy the whole passenger air bag assembly to do this swap. Is this true? Would I be better off buying a Dash Kit from a thrid party?

I'm looking for advice from anyone who has done this in the past, with the experiences they've had. Ultimately, I want something that is going to look factory and last over time.

Yes it is true. Those aftermarket companies make the exact same stuff, I think one of the companies you can even get the dash panel where the air bag goes to say Mustang. I almost bought the kit just for the mustang section. Plenty have done it, and I think all turned out just like factory. good luck

Thanks for the help. I was worried about the quality of the Wood Dash and other such kits which are applied over the current dash. If I can't find the OEM parts cheap, this will be my route.

I have the woodash kit. It's been on my car for about two years now and I love it. I'm actually glad i went that route because I don't like the ribbed aluminum.

or you could do like me and just make the mustang script

i just used a '68 fender emblem, sanded down the pins with some sand paper (do not have a Dremel but would have made getting rid of the pins easier) and then put some 3M tape on the back of the emblem and cut out the excess tape and put it on

Would that script come flying off and smash you in the face should the airbag deploy? Curious...

I think the lateral seam above his emblem is the center-point of deployment for the air bag.

So, the script will come flying off and harpoon his passenger (not him) in either the ****, thigh, or you-know-where...

heh heh
