Has anyone replaced their S1000 Head Unit? If so, what brand/model did you use? I am looking for an IPOD ready, remote (Alpine??) unit. I have read horror stories written by those who have tried to adapt the factory subs and amps to aftermarket head units. Anyone have success?

I wish to keep the factory amps/speakers for now. Sons/wife would like the Ipod hook-up, (have an Alpine 9856 in our 93 'Vert) that has full radio control, so I dn't want to go the PIE set-up.
