Has anyone removed the shift boot (five-speed manual)?
I'm planning on having someone replace the black stitching with red, and I don't want to mess anything up while I'm taking it out.
Any help would be appreciated.

You simply lift it up. No problem, at all to do this. It has a feeling of sturdy clips that connect it to the consult, with some tension.
I replaced my head unit and the installer had it twisted up when he put it back (it restricted the shifting ), so I had to pull it up and twist it back around.
Show pictures of what this looks like when you are done! Sounds interesting.
