Radar Detectors

the only bad thing about Lasers is by the time your radar detectors detects them its to late they are on you. Good thing is though that Laser scrambler type devices are legal. Lasers are under the juristriction of the Food and Drug administration not FDOT.

Its like an ongoing battle with the V1 and 8500 it seems. Those are the 2 I always see talked about. Personaly I cant stand the look of the V1...if it looked better I might get one because of the direction arrows. Other wise my 8500 on my dash board is doing just nicely and works just as good as the V1 probably.
They do that helecopter crap here also to judge the speed on long overpasses. Along with any good radar detecter you still need to use your eyes and common sence like slow down when going over a bridge and you dont know whats on the other side.

In Illinois they are giving tickets using Photo Radar systems. A picture is taken and the ticket and picture (I think) are sent to the car's owner. Is there a radar detector to combat the Photo Radar system?

Is that for speeding...I have seen that done for red light's and stuff like that. I would think even if they are useing that for speeind they must have some sort of radar hitting the car.

Because think about it, are you responsible for someone speeding while driving your car that isnt you. I know most of us RARELY let others drive our cars, but hypothetically speaking if you are not driving it isnt your ticket.

Escort Passport 8500 X50 hardwired, love it. Saved me numerous times from those pesky cops. Plenty of heads up time notice which is helpful when you need to slow down form doing 120.

No detector is perfect but I've had my V1 for 6 or 7 years... of course we all need to use some common sense but still no tickets and I haven't even upgraded to the POP version yet.
The only time I got lasered in this Stang (and V1) we talked horsepower... "slow-it-down/have a nice day."

I also have mine wired to the dome light. So I never have to turn it on or off, and no wires to run down the pillar. And since the dome light turns off automatically, so does the radar detector, and comes on when I unlock the door, or somebody opens the door if it is unlocked. I've had people think they were setting off an alarm when they opened the door and the detector was going through it's power up sequence.

Yep, glad to know there are at least two in the running for best detector. I do like the fact the V1 is considered upgradable... not sure about the Passport 8500.
Sounds like some neat hardwiring Hatchman!
