While taking the dash apart i noticed that the dead switch on my dash to the left of the cigarette lighter does have something plugged into it.

Anyone knows what this cable is hooked up to and what I can use it for? Seems kind'a odd to run a wire to dash when you don't have an option.

I didn't drive mine today (snow/salt on the roads), but from memory...

Do you have IUP? I do and I have three buttons on the left of the lighter on the dash. They work the message center and my color.

I don't have IUP so it is blank. i was wondering if the car was already prewired for IUP and you just need the controls

In land rovers all discoveries have heat seats, you just need a few dollars in parts to hook them up... something like that.

Anyone know how the lights on a nonIUP turn from white to green like that? I want mine to stay white... but the fact that they change makes me wonder if that switch could be installed to choose between the two.

I was wondering the same about the 2 areas between the A/C, Recirc, and Rear Win Def buttons.......

I have an '01 V6 and near the shifter are fake buttons. Once I removed the peice there and the fake buttons (for fog lights, traction control(?) )were wired as well. I believe Ford just wires the car for all options then after that part is installed decide whether or not to actually put that one peice in that gives it the functionality.

If I wanted to add fog lights I'm pretty sure I'd just have to put them in place and find the existing wiring to attach them to... probably similar in the '05.

This extra wire is for the IUP option... Ford, as with many other manufacturer's use the same wiring harness within the vehicles. As, I said in a previous post, even the wiring hook-ups for the auto tranny are in my car, even though I have a manual tranny!

If this is true, It should be simple to add the "MYCOLOR" guages when they become available right???

The three on the left of the power point plug in control the message center, so if you don't have the message center, it's kind of pointless to change the buttons to functional buttons, since pushing them will have no effect.

It's not pointless it gives me a good excuse to order an IUP cluster!

Has anyone tried to order the "IUP" guage cluster yet? Im wandering if they are available or on back order. Also, will the wiring be in the dash for the IUP setup or will we have to do some wiring??

I will have answers to these questions soon! I am the Parts Manager at a Ford Lincoln Mercury Dealer and I am currently checking all the IUP Mysteries Out!
