That's what I'm hoping. However, I've been told that you have to buy this $5 Radio Shack doo-hickey (aka. voltage regulator) in order to avoid the 'pop' in the subs when turning on the system (applies to all aftermarket headunits).

It's actually about $1.70. http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...entPage=search
Check out Hawgman's thread. Has alot of info on harnesses and wiring.

So guys, can I get a finders fee or something...you know, to subsodize the cost since I can't afford one now (still paying off my Brembo GT500 brakes)

Anyone?? Anyone?

I agree TacoBill, for me, it's exactly what I need - I'll wire in a CD changer and a rearview camera and be off to the races, so to speak. I would, however, consider changing out some of the speakers and adding an amp while I am at it - I find the mid range terribly disappointing in the car, esp for the expensive 'upgraded' stereo. I considered taking out the door subs and getting a high/mid combo set up instead. With a new headunit driving them, I'm sure I'd notice an improvement.

Time to start saving my pennies...it's so hard on this darn TMS site.

I was looking hard at Clarion's current DD receiver because of it's iPod video capability. Now I'm sold on this Pioneer unit.

The only fault I can find is no rear aux input. I love the one on the front but I would like one out back too. I'll still be picking one up when available.

Yep, called them this morning. Should be in stock the next few weeks.
No inventory available right now. The fit guide does not yet say it will fit a Mustang but, the system may not be updated for that. So I'm told.
Sorry to get you excited Bill!

Looks like it does allow for mp3 on DVD, which would be more than 6 individual CDs.

Can't wait to see the pics/hear the review. Hopefully the tax man will bring me back some money so I can do this mod.

I take it this only works with the Shaker 500 and not the 1000?

I just got mine today gonna tackle the install this weekend. Got a free rear view camera with mine from Crutchfield pretty happy about that! For disabling the parking brake check I can probably just ground the wire it shows to splice into the brake right? Anyone tried it on this headunit yet?

Not exactly. The bypass on this unit appears to be a little different than what it was on some of the other AVIC units. In fact, it appears to be even easier!

Here is the process for the D3. I found this on AVIC411.

Also, anyone that is interested in getting one of these soon should check out CF. Not only can you get the free camera but you can also get a 15% discount if you order three qualifying Pioneer products together (e.g. AVIC-D3, Sirius or XM tuner, 1 pr speakers). You will also get a $30 gift card with the purchase of the Sirius tuner or a $30 prepaid service card for the XM tuner. Here is a link to a post on how to get the discount. Great Deal on a D3 (FREE BACKUP CAM).

Sweet thanks Razor! Install begins tomorrow and yes the deal at CF is awesome. Only downside is I dont think I can mount this camera in the keyhole like some others have (that was my plan at first) but I'll see what I can do with it.

Guys, I'd like to take advantage of the Pioneer 15% off, and I was always planning on upgrading the door speakers and amp but I'm not too familiar with good and bad products. Does Pioneer make decent replacement speakers for the front doors and amps that will actually produce some midrange in the cabin?

I replaced the 6"x8" components in the door and the 6"x8" two-ways in the rear deck with 4 Pioneer TS-A6871R 6"x8" speakers and am very happy with them. Definitely a noticeable improvement. Midrange is very good.

Did you do anything amp-wise? Is that necessary?

Are your speakers essentially the same thing at the Ford door speakers, but just better quality, or are they fundamentally built differently and therefore provide different/improved sound? Sorry, I suck at stereos...
