Anyone have any pictures of their (or someone elses) LCD headunit? Not the in dash kind, but the flip out kind.

I am looking at getting the Alpine IVA-D310, and am curious to see how it will look.

These are the best I could take. I can reach all the buttons on the message center when the screen is out and the screen doesn't touch the AC vents. You can tilt it so it doesn't hit.

the screen looks like it leaning but it's actually straight.....

here is a couple of my clarion unit. With the tilt feature on the screen you can adjust it enough to keep it from hitting the vents, but I generally just leave those 2 closed when using the screen

Thanks Chris and Wes-

Wes, yours looks like it has to be angled down...can you still see it well from the drivers seat?

In the pic it looks like it's angled but it actually sits straight up. No problems at all seeing it.

This subject has come up before and both you both guys were nice enough to post pics of your head units. The question I had that didn't get answered before was why didn't you put it in the slot just below that. That way you would have not vent issues and be able to tilt the unit back a little bit. Did you feel it would be too low down there?

The reason is simple..The scosche install kit (which is typical of most double DIN radios) comes with the "pocket" and therefore the unit is designed to be installed that way.I suppose one could reverse this practice and put the "pocket" on the top but then you would have no use of it when the screen is up and it may look a bit strange in this type of configuration.

I flipped my installation kit so I can mount the head unit closer to the bottom so the screen didn't flip up and hit my vents. see attached link.

This make is look alot nicer. You do have to modify the kit a little but the end result is great.

If you use the Metra/Crutchfield kit, you can choose which spot to use. Their pocket is removable. I personally plan to use either the Kenwood 8017 or a new model that JVC is supposed to have. I really want MP3 on DVD.

Ok, I can't find the crutchfield kit with the switchable pocket.

Can anyone?
