Very nice touch!!!!!
Hey Mark, the paint I used is from Dupli-color. Its their Import Auto paint. Its called Silver, and the part # is 8801530. You should be able to get it from any of your big name chain auto parts stores. I get mine from Pep Boys. Good stuff.
For anyone who wants to do the rings, you should really sand the heck out of the rings, AND prime them. The plastic that they are made out of is very wierd. Nothing sticks to it. I tried to use masking tape as a way to hold them up in the air (I used cut up hangers, and made a tripod to have them sit off the table to paint all the angles), and the tape wouldn't stick to it AT ALL! The rings are made of a different plastic than the switch plates. For the plates, you can either just paint them, or lightly sand them, prime them and then add paint. For Paul's, I did the latter, and added around 7 or 8 light coats. For my own, I just painted them. Either way, you should be okay. Just a word of advice, paint these either outside or in a VERY ventilated area. I tried to paint in a basement, BAD IDEA!! This paint is much stronger in terms of fumes than hobby paint. Its a great inexpensive mod, that really looks factory. And if you do scratch it, just remove, and add another coat or two.

I did mine about 3 monts ago and no problems at all. I have since put in the welts and it even makes it looks more sharp. I used krylon mettalic and hit it with clear coat.

Sorry to steal your thunder maveric but I just wanted to show that it does hold up.

I did my window switch plates 4-5 months ago using the same duplicor spray paint. I lightly sanded them and sprayed 4-5 coats on them. After that I sprayed 2-3 coats of clearcoat. I didn't to the speacker cover because I didn't want to draw attention to a part of the interior that I hate.
A couple of months ago I ran across this thread. It is long but has some great info in it of this very cheap mod. No it isn't hard at all to remove the pieces and the grills just pull right off. I've had them for a while now and no complaints. It make the door really pop IMO.

Switch Plates: $51.38 Passenger, $48.48 driver
Speaker Frame: $7 <---Said the price was for the grill AND the frame. I'm a little weary about this price. Seems awfully cheap.
Frames do see cheap almost worth buying a couple sets!
