if you put one in the vent left steering wheel it might be cool...just the gap between them makes it look empty...but its still pretty cool.

I like it. I agree with the guy who wrote the article. I hate seeing gauges everywhere that look out of place.

I know this is gonna sound silly, but what happens if you have air or heat running through those vents as far as the gauge accuracy/function?

I dont like them, it cuts out the HVAC, and it looks strange because there's the gap around the guage.

I don't like it either. The air vent is too large and gauges are too gar apart. If you are going to do that, you might as well replace the whole panel and evenly space 3 gauges across tha space. Finding an exact match for the IUP would be tough and then you loos you A/C. I just don't think its worth it.

welp I guess no one had my idea...hmm guage pod..matching trim rims.... hmmm maybe an analog clock holder...drill a hole in the middle get a clock that fits nicely and viola

Two things jump out at me:
1. "Are you that guy?"
2. They "don't obstruct a substantial amount of airflow". How could it possibly not obstruct substantial airflow? It just doesn't seem very ergonomic.

Plus it just looks funny.

I've got them and I like them. The gap around the guage is to allow air to still flow through. They do allow plenty of air to flow through. Have had no problems with hot air (it's winter here) hurting the guages.
I like the fact that they keep my guages kind of stealthy.

Love em'. and just in time. Have had the Saleen pod for some time now, just was hesitant on into cutting my dash for the instal. Now I don't have too. Just ordered them.

hmmm, what i'm thinking actually is to use something like this to mount a gps... what's the diameter of these, anyone know off-hand?

The inner diameter for the guage is 51.8 mm (2.039").

I've had VentPods in my 2001 (first prototypes) since 2002....never had any fogging issues. Ironically, my a-pillar pod has an oil pressure guage in it that fogs up all the time.

This pod isn't for everyone. It's just another option for us gear-heads. It's best feature is the fact that you don't have to chop up your precious interior to add guages...and you can install them in under 60 seconds (with practice ). You'd be surprised at how much air actually flows through them. Basically, the air pressure in the duct is bumped up, so the air flows faster through the openings, which helps to get most of the flow volume that was lost due to limited cross-sectional area back.

I've been toying with the idea of making some adapters for GPS units and I-Pods and such, but there is just so much variability in the various styles that it really wouldn't be viable from a business standpoint. You're better off fabricating something. I assume that's why you ask about the diameter.
