New Head Unit.......Popping Noise fix

I added a new head unit but have that annoying popping noise when it is turned on and I can't remember how to fix it. I know I need to add a capaciter or something and you can get it at Radio Shack but does anyone have the work instructions and part number. I know it was on the old -precrash site but can't find infor on it on the new site. Any help would be appreciated.

When in doubt, always check TacoBill's "how-to" sticky's

I just put together a harness for an aftermarket head unit and went with the 1.5K ohm resistor route instead of the 5v regulator.

Can someone describe exactly how to connect the 1.5k resistor? It looks like the resistor has two "prongs" on each end. What exactly gets soldered onto them? It's not clear in Taco Bills' thread.
