Nice system. Like the colors too, but I'm also one of those that's not too fond of the HU. But that's just me, everything else is nii-i-i-i-ice.

Question: With the door subs uncovered, are you worried that they'll get kicked in by some clutz passenger? It seems just the place where you place your foot to help open the door.

Like I said in the first post, the grilles are coming...as soon as they get here, they're going on.

Couple of questions-

1. Are you using Component speakers (mid and a tweeter) or 5x7's? If components, are you using 3-way crossovers in the front (for the tweeter, mid, and 8" woofer)?

2. Is everything being powered by that one 6 chann amp? If so, I read on JL's site that it is rated at 45W RMS x 6 @ 4 ohm (12.5V). Is that enough for those 8" woofers, because their RMS is 75w?

Other than that, looks sweet Steve. I am asking these questions...because I was considering doing (and trying to fidure out how to power)-

MB Quart-
4" components up front
6.5" woofer in the front (may go 8" like you)
a pair of 5.25" components in the rear deck.

JL-
10" 10w6v2 in the trunk.

My thought is a 500x1 for the sub in the trunk. And a big (300x4) for the components. I am not sure a 300x4 would be able to power 10 speakers (4 tweeters, 4 mids, and 2- 6.5" or 8"woofers).

Using 5X7's. Got JL TR570CXi's on clearance.

Yep, that's it. The subwoofers hit plenty hard, so I'm not really having an issue there. Since they're only 8's they don't need too much power.

MB Quart-
4" components up front
6.5" woofer in the front (may go 8" like you)
a pair of 5.25" components in the rear deck.

Sorry I can't help more man...I'm not much of an expert on component speakers. Though depending on the power rating of the speakers you put in, you should be able to get away with that setup. Ask adrenalin (and enfynet I think)...they seem to be car audio experts.

Looks really nice! I bet that set you back a bit!
According to my good friend Excel, yes, it did set me back a bit (under $1900 for everything, not including installation). However, when I first ordered the car I decided that I would make this car my own, and that if there was one place I didn't want to skimp, it was music. I've actually been buying this stuff for the last several months and stashing it in my closet, so I got almost everything on sale or clearance. Xplan pricing didn't hurt either.

LOL I know that some ppl think the Head Unit is ugly, but that's cool. If I were building a car to someone else's specs, it wouldn't be mine.

hey, as long as you like it and it sounds good....thats all that counts. If you have any pics of the 8" speakers upclose and how they are mounted on the inside, that would be awesome.

No, don't ask me. I only know about what I'm putting in my car because I've researched it quite a bit. Just read a little bit, you should be able to figure out what you need.

I'll take some more pics of the subs for you as soon as I can...as far as the install, I wasn't there, and I'm not skilled enough myself to open the door up (maybe I am, but I'm chicken ), so unfortunately I probably can't help on that one.

I like the cigarette lighter, or uh, the "power supply" plug. When I test drove a GT the plastic one fell out when I threw it in second... P.O.S. That aluminum plug is the perfect fix.

Head unit when open
Is that a MD AND CD unit? I thought this was a JAPAN only unit? Did you have to get one of the frequency adapters?

S.O.

Grats on the new system, got mine back last week and I love it. JL audio makes some great stuff don't they?

Specs..

Kenwood KRC-X569 head unit (transferred from my truck)
Sirius sattelite radio
2 pair Boston Acoustics SL80 component plated speakers
10w6v2 JL Audio sub in a custom fiberglass box tucked in the left side of the trunk
JL Audio D class 500/1 amp for the sub
JL Audio D class 300/4 for the BA's
Amps are mounted in a custom amp rack tucked away on the right side of the trunk.

Leaves me plenty of room in the trunk for whatever I need.
I have been banging the sub for a week now trying to loosen it up, its starting to sound real good too
