mount for radar detector

I just got an Escort Solo S2 radar detector and Id like to mount it without the suction cups. I found this site http://www.countryjoycrafts.com/350Z/escortmount.htm and was wondering if anyone on here has used them before? Also does anyone know off the top of their head if our mirror posts are the 3/4 inch diameter and at least 5/8 inch long ones, or are they the .9 inch/23 mm stem?

I have used several of those, including on in my Shelby. You need the 3/4" one and they fit and work GREAT. Top quality part. I've also installed one in an F-250 and an Explorer.

It would block a lot of your front view. I have to raise the rearview mirror to the max to maximize my forward view of the road, and anything dangling beneath it annoys me.

Anyone had any problem with the weight on the mirror mount?

I'm used to it. I have enough forward visibility out the front.

Are you driving a Mclaren F1 (click here)? Unless your seat's in the center of the car I don't see how your rear view mirror with or without a radar could obstruct your view of the road.

I've been in Bill's car and It's almost as if it's not even their after a while.

That car actually has two rear view mirrors, one up and to the left and one up and to the right.
Im not a big fan of having stuff hanging from my mirror either, but it would probably be better there than on the windshield.

I'm tall enough that my head will hit the roof in a hard enough bump. Therefore anything below my line of sight is blocking some of my forward view. I lift the rear view mirror as high as it can go (with the ball and socket joint nearly touching the glass) in every Ford vehicle I drive. Otherwise, I find the rear view mirror to block quite a bit of my forward vision.

I can see how if you're short, the Country Joy mount wouldn't be a problem.
