Its tough. I had my heart set on black. Then white is slowly looking more appealing. I'd love to do chrome shaft with black ball but I may just end up buying a hurst black ball 5 spd until MGW releases theirs(if ever).

Someone clarify for me. This shaft and shift **** combo is permantly jointed together? So its like one peice or what? I'm confused.

White is probably more retro but black certainly is sharp as well... its going to be a tough call once the time is right to place my order.

I decided on the black hurst ball for now. But I'll deff order a white ball in a month or so. Hopefully MGW has one released by then. If not I'll just get another hurst.

MGW Shifter is Not Boot Friendly

George,
I installed your shifter about a year ago. I was in the first buyers group. I noticed that my shifter boot had a hole in it on the drivers side and then within a week I had 3 holes that correspond to the corners of your shifter. Despite the chamfered corners on the edges and nuts, it is causing wear.

I pulled it off and ordered a replacement boot from Redline. I will be happy to send you the old boot at no cost for inspection if you like, but it is obvious this is a wear issue on the inside of the leather boot. The Ford boot is awful thin.

As far as a fix, I am not sure if simply placing some dynamat type material around the edges would be satisfactory to solve this or not. I tried to pm you about this issue, but apparently you do not accept pm. Any ideas on correcting this would be appreciated.

The good news is that I love your shifter. Have put about 15,000 miles on it with no problems. 8 turns out.

I had the same problem with the MGW shifter and the stock shifter boot. The problem showed up within a few weeks of installing the MGW shifter. I told George about it last year. I don't know if he has done anything to correct the problem. I am going to have to get a boot from redline also.

I got holes. I did some adjusting and they don't seem to be getting any worse. The Dynomat might be a fix. I'll try that when I get a new boot.

There were some comments on the rubbing issue in the original group-buy thread, one of the causes was which way you put the block on, if the screws pointed towards the driver or the passenger side. Its harder to tighten them if they point towards the passenger side, but that's how I did it, as well as angling the block a little for more clearance, and I haven't had any problems with my boot. I have a parchment leather boot from Passion Automotive (http://www.passionautomotivelv.com).

What he said... same style but with the 5-speed or 6-speed pattern etching? [hell, I might just buy one as it is but I'd prefer the postion etching]

George, all things being equal as far as adjustment goes, will this **** be higher or lower than the factory **** mounted on your shifter? I wish I could make the factory **** be lower on your shifter but when I adjust it lower the throw becomes too stiff.
