Hi !

Can we buy separately the Machined aluminium dashboard from the Bullit and install it on our Mustangs ?

If yes, how much is it and where can we find it ?

Thanks !

No you may not have one. It is for us Bullitt owners only.

The dashboard parts may or may not be vin dependent. Meaning in order to order the parts you might need an actual Vin Number from a Buillit. KC will know for sure, but the real factor to discourage you from this upgrade is the fact that the AirBag piece is actually the entire airbag assembly. This part retails for about $900 alone. So, unless you really want to shell out over a grand for a new dashboard then forget about it.

This is a good reason to whenever possible, from the dealerships inventory, obtain a VIN # from a specialty car, ie Shelby 500, Shelby GT, Bullet, CFS... You never know when you might want that special part.....
Now, that's not bad is it? I think it's just smart think'n.

It is aluminum coated with a plastic protectant.

I read a topic over on the Team Shelby website where the front cover can be removed from the passenger side airbag, after removing the airbag itself, which is not that hard. People there were sending the airbag covers off to have Mr. Shelby sign them, then reinstalling them back on the car. It is likely that the airbag cover cannot be purchased separately, but it does come off. Having said that, I don't believe that the aluminum treatment comes off of the guage bezels, or the center vent piece, so those parts, if available, would have to be purchased complete from Ford. I would think that one of the aftermarket companies that now produce wood-grain and carbon fiber kits for our dash could come up with a stick-on substitute, fairly soon, however. Try contacting one of them. Sticking the pieces on has to be alot easier than replacing the whole dash.

Just for the record, the 70 1/2 - 81 Trans Am dash panels were machined aluminum panels, not decals. The Gold SE versions had a gold colored tint applied over the top of the aluminum panels.

Has there ever been a Mustang in the past that used a dash finish like this??
IMO they should have carried over the Bullitt grill treatment to the dash and had a black dash with aluminum trim surround, and it would have been closer to the original from 1968.
Without wanting to offend any Bullitt owners or wannabe owners, I think the 2008 dash treatment looks out of place and time.
By the way, I think the new Bullitt is an awesome package otherwise.

I agree. I do think that the dash treatment gives a superb retro look, but for a car that is such a sleeper, so subtle, the dash just screams "Look at me!" Too blingy for my taste. A black dash, maybe with that pebbled, camera-case texture from '68, and a satin surround would have been perfect. A great package otherwise, but the only person the dash has to please is it's owner, not me.

Have either of you actually seen one in person?

I have seen several in person, and I really liked the car. I prefer the satin aluminum dash, or, even better, the dark charcoal dash treatment. I do applaud Ford's attempt at retro, which I love, but I'm just not crazy about that turned metal look. Were I in the market for a Bullit, however, I probably wouldn't let that detail prevent me from buying one. It certainly has "unique" on it's side.

+1 dislike the dash. Love looking at the car. Would not buy it due to dash styling.

It was available in the Mustang II Cobra II models (1976-1978). Not sure about any other applications of turned aluminum in Mustangs.

I actually just purchased a 08 gt soft top that we were between that car and the bullitt and my dealer got me the dash panels and will install them in a few weeks.
