I sold my OEM "leatherette" seats WITH side airbags out of my 2005 Mustang GT in 2006 and replaced with Corbeaus for drag racing. Now that I'm putting the car back into street trim I'm searching junk yards online for an electric driver and manual passenger with airbags in gray or black. There appear to be several trim codes (K, P and J) and types (with or without Sport Type). Does anyone know the differences? Here's a pic of my OEM seats the day I bought the car:



I still have Corbeaus, I'd just like to use OEM seats with the airbags for travel when I have a passenger. Thanks.

 

2008 up will all have side air bags, so that will limit the search. I put a airbag seat in my 07 so I could have a power seat on both sides. It worked out great. It also gave the passenger some height so they didn't feel like they were sitting on the floor. lol I disconnected the upper bag connector, so no codes or problems.

Also, I have a full set of the grey (your picture) of factory take off leathers, if anyone is interested. They are out of an 07 or 08 coupe. I was going to put them in my 07 if I went to grey stripes, but decided against black with grey trim. I'll stay with my grabber blue set from when I installled them in 2010

 

Thanks. Again, I'm simply looking for an explanation of the 3 codes (K, P and J) and the seat type definitions of "with Sport type" and "without Sport type". These seem relevant to the junk yard search engines. My existing paperwork and build sheet doesn't seem to indicate any of the above, so getting answers will help me do the search.

 

The codes for stock air bags is F and with side air bags H. This is on the door trim sticker. Your seats are GT (small pleats, V6 wide wide pleats), basic. They are leatherette trimmed, without high bolsters (Shelby, Roush, Saleen). You do not have the Sport type, the way I read it. Those supposedly are in the upper models, not a GT or Base.

 

Ah, now we're getting somewhere. If I eliminate the Sport type item, there remains "P" or "J". Here's a confusing response to one of the search engines:

Trim type is "K2", which DOES seem to indicate a sport type--perhaps because the car is a Premium. Thanks for the tip, I had no idea the trim code was on the door sill sticker.

 

Glad you got it figured out. When I ordered my seat (power passenger) I went thru the same thing. I have a v6, so I would use the F, wide pleating design, but didn't like that design, so I bought GT coverings, and they fit perfectly. Those are suppose to be the premium IUP, so that is most likely right. The Hollandier didn't differentiate either, what the difference was. It said look at the door jam sticker. The two codes I listed earlier were for the air bags design, not the seat codes. Those were on the sticker like you learned.
