Kenwood Dvd Player

So I Just Ordered The Kenwood In Dash Dvd Player, Model Ddx6019, From Crutchfield. My Question Is, Will It Play Dvd's When I'm Driving Or Will I Have To Modify It Somehow To Get It To?

Thanks

Just ground the parking brake wire. I did that with my Kenwood DDX-7017 and the DVD works great while driving, not that I'm watching while driving of course!

It's a wire on the Kenwood unit. As a safety feature, you're suppose to connect it somehow (I don't remember) to the parking brake so when the car is parked (parking brake engaged) the DVD will work.

So instead of connecting this wire to the parking brake, connect/ground it to a screw that is screwed to a metal surface (I grounded mine somewhere in the center console). So the DVD will work regardless of the parking brake engaged or not.

Do you have the Shaker 500?

YEAH I GOT THE 500, IF YOU GOT ANY MORE INFO BUT I THINK I GOT IT. SCREW THE PARKING CABLE FROM THE KENWOOD UNIT TO METAL!!! OR FIND AN EXISTING SCRE IN STEEL.

thanks

Yup, just ground that wire and you are good to go, same thing I did and it works flawlessly.

+1 on the ground wire. I have the DDX7015 and it works like a champ. It will also "fix" the issue of not having full functionality on the GPS system while driving.

so i got the unit last night and started wiring, and now i got more questions. so i got the kenwood harness and the factory harness to splice together! on the kenwood the ground, battery and switched power wires are all long, this is confusing. can i just connect them to the ford harness which has all of these? same question for the dimmer control wire. the kenwood harness also has a remo cont, mute, motor ant., power cont, and ext amp. wire. i believe i dont need to connect these. if i am wrong please let me know. so the parking cable i need to ground, got it. but can i just run it to the ground for the radio in the ford harness or does it need to be grounded seperatley and why? any sugestions where? the reverse wire i need to run to the rev white lights in back, what color wire is that in the taillight harness. if i dont have a camera do i need to run it? i might get one in the future. and now for the door subs, if i use the supplied harness that converts them to rca's can i plug them into the sub woofer pre out of the kenwood head unit. or will i hear a pop.

thanks
and please help

I grounded all my ground wires including the green one to the same place. I used the Power cont. wire to power my Amp. That is the wire you have to connect with the voltage regulator to avoid the Amp pop. You connect the Black, Red, and Yellow from the Kenwood harness to the same color on the Factory replacement harness. The dimmer control from the Kenwood harness has to connect to the dimmer wire at the headlight switch. When I get home from work I can send you the links to the other threads that I used. I still haven't hooked up my camera so I'm not sure about the pink wire, I'm going to do that this weekend. You do use the RCA plugs to make the Subs work. I got that info from the link I sent in my previous thread.

To one of the 2 Blue wires on the small harness that has the RCA plugs on it. The voltage regulator goes between these 2 blue wires but I can't remember which is in and which is out (I think the wire from the head unit is the in and then out to the wire on the harness). When you get it connected, if you still get the pop then it is backward. Attached is a Word document that I put together from varius sources that helped me with my install.
