KC! Retrofit MyColor?
Alright so how many people has done the Retrofit MyColor upgrade? And if so how long have you had it and have you had any problems... what did your dealer say when you asked them if they would do it? Just Curious, i'm sort of intersted in doign this and just wondering if it would be a hassle or pretty simple for the dealer to do.. thx
I had mine done last August, I *think* I may have been the second refit my dealership had performed. I simply called up the parts dept. and told them what I wanted to do, and that I had read on the forums here that someone had them refit a GT a few months prior. The only problem I had was the parts manager was having trouble finding the correct part number for the V6. I sent and email to KC and he helped us with the part number (thanks again Kevin!), the cluster was ordered and a week later it showed up. I took the car in, the shop swapped clusters, I paid the bill and came home. Not one problem since then, everything works perfectly. Had I not bought a convertible I might have left the stock cluster but since the interior is so visible with the top down I really wanted to dress it up. As far as hassle, the biggest hassle to me was the traffic between here and the dealership. The dealership (Leif Johnson Ford) was very accomodating and the service dept. didn't bat an eye at doing the conversion. I waited maybe an hour or so for the job to be done. To anyone in Austin TX that wants to do this conversion, speak to Jeremy in the parts dept. of Leif Johnson Ford, he's done at least two of these conversions now and thanks to KC for all the help with your initial research on performing the swap and help finding the right part numbers!
