I had a PIE adapter and it shorted out the car. Nothing would work, AC, Speedo, gauges....I had to disconnect the battery to get the car to reset. That worked but scary thing was I was in Austin at a reunion, I live in Dallas.
I then bought a aftermarket double din with IPOD capabilities. The aftermarket radio I bought also has a usb. I nnow convert my Itunes to MP3 and download onto my 2 gig flash drive and insert the flash drive into my USB port. It's much easier and I have the controls on the stereo that are similiar to the Ipod controls.
Plus the stereo only cost me $249....

Brandmotion adaptor

I just purchased one and need to install it. Just wondering if there are any drawbacks to leaving an ipod connected permanently? Will this run the battery down if you don't drive it regularly?

If you enable sleep mode on your iPod it should not drain your iPod battery if you leave it in and don't drive often.

This is what I use. I have it a few months with no problems. It also will support sat radio and a aux input. Just depends on what cables you get.

This is what I bought at Best Buy. Kit is $80 +installation but SO worth it. If I ever change out steroes it will work with them as well. (Which I know may happen someday) It displays the tracks up on the dash so my eyes don't have to come off the road while shifting and the control **** I attached near the gear shift.
It works just like the ipod wheel so no need to fumble to try and figure out a new control or look at my ipod while scrolling through songs. In addition the ipod sits in the center console so it is out of view and no cradle to attract unwanted attention.

I love it and so does everyone that has seen it. I should get a commission from Best Buy for all the people that have bought one since seeing mine.
