I know the P.I.E. adapter, but I dont want to have to slice any wires. I heard a while back that P.I.E. was coming out with a new one that didnt involve cutting wires, any news on this? Also I tried the Peripheral Electronics one and, well it made my car go crazy and gave me erractic error messages and such. So whats everyone using for Ipod hookups?
I use the builtin auxiliary jack on my 07, but input audio level doesn't even come close to matching the audio level of the CD player or FM radio, so it really sucks in my opinion. When using the aux jack, I have to really turn the volume up on the ipod to get it to sound reasonable.
Therefore I'd be glad to know what others are using as well.

The new PIE unit that doesn't require any splicing should be out soon. I've been keeping an eye on it since January, and it kept being bumped back, but now they say May 29 is the day.
It is supposed to plug into the back of the Shaker, and have a cable that connects to your ipod. It has the ability to be run directly from the radio, or from the ipod itself. Only works on shaker systems with the aux/sat button though.

I'm confused after reading the following.
"NOT compatible if equipped with factory navigation.
NOT compatible if equipped with factory satellite option. >li>NOT compatible if equipped with factory DVD (RSE) equipment.
MUST have the "AUX" button on radio. "
They're contradicting themselves. In the description is says must have the Sat controls but then they state what I qouted above.

I don't understand it either... Until June 1, it said it would work with 2005-2007 Mustangs. Now they've updated it to say 2006-2007. Our radios are the same as the 2006 radio as far as I know, but SAT was not an option in 05. I was thinking of calling PIE to find out exactly what the story is, but I have a feeling I will talk to some customer service person that just reads what I can read myself. Maybe someone will try it out... it can't work much worse than the previous PIE unit...
I have the peripheral unit that controls the ipod from the factory Shaker 500, I've had it for 6 months and haven't had any problems, I did have to hack it a little when installing it but it was simple, just rewire the unit from 12v constant to a switched 12v source. It was worth it.

ricco what do you mean "rewired from a switched 12v source" I ask this because I have had instrument cluster problems recentlt after installing my peripheral unit. is it because the Ipod draws current and drains the battery?
well here we go; i have had my updated peripheral unit for 11 months and today my instrument cluster went crazy;;; i had to disconnect the battery for an hour and disconnect the peripheral unit; all is ok now but if yours has not screwed your car up yet iT WILL -- be warned and if it is still under warranty tell them it went crazy and get your money back.
Now i am looking for another option - i am also confused with the new PIE - gotta find out if it works on the 05's or not; if you know please post.
