Ok, so I've had it with my peripheral ipod unit. I have the older model that "occasionally" causes the entire dash to go crazy, requiring a reset of the battery. Reality is, it seems to be going downhill. More freak outs and just weird things happening like freezing my iphone or ipod. Anyway, I'm thinking of going one of a two ways. Both of which will involve me mounting an ipod dock on my dash or somewhere else so I can just set my phone in it. These are the options

1) I wire power and aux wire (headphone jack) from the back of my shaker 500 unit and to the dock. What is the easiest way to do this?

2) I find another kit like the peripheral that hopefully charges the phone as well and doesn't go nuts at random times.

I'm also thinking about finding a another take off head unit. Mine is looking pretty rough with buttons flaking like crazy.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Help in general?
