iPad install in a Mustang..

Yeah it.s an 06, but figured a lot of you guys don't frequent the 2005-2009 section so thought I would share. It would be awesome if someone could create a harness that could link Sync with this. Only THEN would I forgo the EP. I'd get a 3G iPad, Audison Bit One and call it a day!

Pretty cool, thanks for sharing Patrick.

The only thing I would worry about is whether the internals of the iPad could survive the extreme temperatures inside the car at times....

That's pretty slick, I like it! As of right now, I have read that iPad and Sync don't quite go together very well. It will be a work in progress. Can't beat the size of the screen though! No worry about radio depth or all the wiring crap you will have to squeeze in behind it. Seems decent enough. With a little bit of bondo/fiberglass and some paint, the new dash is modifiable to do something like this I am sure. Just have to figure out what to do with the Sync message screen though.

Very cool, but I worry about the driver being distracted. Watch the reflection of the driver in the iPad screen. His preoccupation with the iPad is occasionally interrupted by his driving duties.

Very cool... but IMO, crap like this doesn't belong in a performance car.

"Crap like this" is found in a lot of high end performance cars. Ours is trying to be affordable for people and that's why things like these are not found in mustangs, but they belong in a performance car for sure.

I like it. My only drawback would be not having my local radio stations. I guess I'm one of the remaining few who still likes to channel surf while driving.

Your radio station doesn't stream over the internet?

I was driving on some backroads while making this video knowing that I was going to be demoing the iPad. I find the iPad is no more distracting than a GPS/DVD sytem. However I guess there will be some idiots out there that will try to do email or play a game or something.

This is my iPad system and I stream my local radio station over the web via a radio app. I have every radio-station in the world at my finger tips talk about channel surfing.

Is the 'channel surfing' as easy as pressing the presets on a HU? Also, another concern is that ATT is dropping their unlimited data plan for a 2GB per month plan. Streaming music will eat away at that pretty quick, then you're going to be paying extra per month because you've gone over your limit.

Don't get me wrong, I think this install is slick, just misses the mark for me due to those two things I've mentioned.

Aren't there radio tuners for carputers? couldn't you use a radio tuner installed in the iPad? you don't need 3G for that or any data plan

You could plug a FM receiver into the bottom of your ipad they make them for ipods it would be very cheap and easy.
