Installing rear backup camera on an 05?

Stock v6, sub, amp andheadunit installed. Two of ushave tried for hours to get the camera installed but we just cant find the correct reverse wire. We have tried running the 12v pink camera switch coming from the headunit to the white/yellow (read that somewhere) wire leading to the taillights but that just gives constant power. We also tried running it with the black wire that goes directly to the reverse light, hoping it would only trigger power when the reverse light activates, but it gets no power regardless of the reverse light state.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Did you try grabbing the wire that goes into the reverse light right by the socket?
