I want to install a flshing LED in the door panel, near the lock pin to warn people about the fact that this car as an alarm system before thy get in !

Is there a constant and a switched power source inside the door or will i have to run a wire from under the dash?

Another location that would also be OK for me would be in the overhead console just near the rear view miror so it would show from the winshield.

Any suggestion ?

first thought......ah jeez......rice. I hate those blue flashing/chase LEDS that guys put on their cars.

But to answer your question....tap in to a wire that is the switch for power for the alarm. So when it is armed (car is locked and off), it has power. That way the light is on when the alarm is on.

Your best bet is under the dash. I don't know of a wire in the door.

My alarm guy mounted the LED mid-way up the pillar between the windsheild and drivers window.

I had those on my 85 GT, back in 86. It was the 'thing' to install with your alarm system.

I think the battery kills all power for accesories after half an hour. The guys with the hardwired radars say so. I think you could wire it directly into the alarm power feed. That might give you constant power. All I would do would be to find a 5V line or something and tap into it. Then just mount the LED and resistor and put a switch under the dash so you can turn it on and off.

Do you have the factory alarm? There's a blinking red light in the dash already if you have that...

I have a blinking blue lcd in the foward mid part of my dash, and no matter where you are standing you can see it. I love it. Goes well with Vista Blue.

I wonder if you can splice into the blinking red light in the dash to get same effect?
