Installed Aftermarket Dash Kit, need advice...
#1
So I installed my Woodview dash kit Friday. The airbag pieces and right vent went smoothly. The center vents and speedo....not so smoothly. The center vents got on a bit crooked. I went to pull it up/off to readjust and the thing felt like it had been welded to the dash. I finally got it pulled off and readjusted. Unfortunately, in pulling it up I left a slight bend near the top of it between the vents. It isn't all that noticable, but it bugs me. So my choices are :
A) I should try getting another center vents piece and replacing it. But how would I ever get that one off? I pulled my guage bezel off just trying to readjust the speedo, so I'm afraid I might pop out the bezel, set the airbag off or something. Anyone ever removed one of these before?
B) Find some kind of emblem to put over it. Like the Mustang logo or the "Mustang" letters or something. But I don't want to make it look tacky or stupid.
C) Just ignore it and live with it.
Any thoughts or suggestions? It isn't all that bad, but I'm a perfectionist and it bugs me that the piece isn't perfectly smooth

I vote C...if u can live with it without anybody noticing theres no point in trying to fix it by knowing u can brake something else...if it aint broke dont fix it :P lol lets see some pics

Here is the link to my page, with plenty of pictures of everything. The dash blemish isn't visible in the pictures though.

I don't know how they attached, but I'm assuming by 3M tape. If that's the case the best way to remove is to use a hair-dryer and when they get hot they should pull off easier. Also use a butter knife or something to help pry them off.
If the bend isn't soo noticeable, I'd recommend just living with it for a while. Usually the pain of "I know its there, and it bothers me" starts to subside. If not you can always replace it later.

Yeah, I have a cousin who owns dealerships so I bought mine from him. It's Jacky Jones Ford in Cleveland. If you buy through Jacky deal with Gene Penland. I know him personally, very nice guy, very helpful salesman.
As for other mods, I'm not sure. So far I've put in new floormats, tag brackets, chrome exhaust tips, 6-guage instrument cluster, IUP doorsill plates, IUP door handles, and Woodview dash kit.
I also have the silver IUP vents ordered, though I'm wondering if I would be better off sticking with the black vents for the nice contrast. Other than that, I think I may hold off on other mods for a while. In the future I may add :
1. This rear fascia. I also like the way the tail lights and panel are blacked out...

I've also thought about a front chin spoiler and possibly a different rear spoiler. But I'm also afraid of overdoing it. I think there's a fine line between improvement and overload.

This was a 16 piece kit from Woodview. I know a guy who owns a body shop, so he got it for me for $162.50. Order it on your own and you'll pay considerably more. I also inquired about ordering the 5 piece kit separately but they told me it would actually cost more for it. They were going to charge $50 per piece to break it up.

Jared,
That looks like the same kit I have on my car except mine has all the pieces not just the dash. It was on the car when I bought it from the dealer. The entire kit plus upgraded leather Katskin seats retailed from the dealer for $2400. I paid roughly $1200 for the whole thing. Its must nicer looking the factory IUP IMO.

Sharkstang : Yeah, I agree, it does look better than the factory dash.
Bill_Brenda : I probably could get another center vents piece rather easily. Getting it really isn't the problem. I'm just worried about trying to get the other one off and getting the new one on smoothly.

Looks good Jared.....but I think the factory IUP dash looks just as good. I prefer the rib design of the factory one myself. I assume that you were stuck in the middle when there were all the IUP snaffu's? I'm particular about my own car as well, and if it were me, I would probably order the new dash center piece to make it perfect, as well as the vent bezel you talked about

Giddyup : I love the factory IUP dash too. But I do think I like the Woodview better. Personally I don't care for the horizontal grooves. I do, however, like the fact that the factory dash has the silver louvers. There's really no way to do that if you go aftermarket.
As for the center piece, I am thinking of maybe getting an emblem to go on it. Perhaps a 3 in. X 3 in. pony w/ tribar emblem? It would match the steering wheel and it would be safer than putting an emblem over the airbag. Besides, the center of my dash is very glare-y or reflect-y or whatever you want to call it. I'd wouldn't mind toning it down a bit.
Of course, I don't want it to look tacy either.
