Infill G4 - CarPC with navigation!!
i emailed them again last month.. both the korean and the american based contacts (Maxan and Infill)
half the emails bounced (unconfigured mailboxes!) and the other half went unresponded.
bottom line, i've sent out over 12 emails during 4-5 months.. none got a response
it's too bad the G4 looks good.. but i'd stay away from them!

i sure am interested Jason.
the only thing holding me back from having done this a year ago is the Navigation software.
i'm yet to find something half decent that has updated maps of Dubai
that's why i've stuck with my Garmin StreetPilot :\

Estimated release from MP3car.com is April 16th.
http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/mp3c...-car-computer/ has some info, install pics, and other info.
I'm still debating between this, or a transflective screen and a Mac Mini driving it.

And as you will use a software front end you will never see which windows is behind. And i don't want a windows that cost more than my car pc.
Just pulled the trigger, the MP3Car version of this with the StreetDeck software should be in my hands by the end of the week.
Now to diagram out what I want and find a local audio shop to help make it happen.
I backed off the Mac Mini idea, just didn't want to put in the work into making it all work well and look good. This is a single unit that I can toss in and be mostly done with, but still enough stuff to tinker with to appeal to my geek side. I'd rather put the time into other parts of the car.

Quick pic of it on my desk at work

I'll be taking it to a shop hopefully this weekend and discussing install details. Not sure when it will be in the dash, but hopefully in the next few weeks tops.
I'll make sure to have a real camera on me for the install pr0n, instead of the camera phone I had at work.

Looks cool....I spent awhile over at MP3car reading up on the G4....
Do you have the Shaker 500 or 1000 in your car? Are you going to power any amps with thru the G4? Just wondering whts sytem your setting up??

It's in the shop now. Found a place here in Austin that does great audio work, and body work too, so they are installing the Infill unit, as well as doing most of my 69 Mach 1 conversion. Should have the car back Friday and I can let you know.
Fro playing with the unit at home prior to the car, they rushed shipping these. Basically the first batch feels beta, with some quirks in the StreetDeck software the MP3Car guys added. But, work is progressing on new versions to fix the quirks, so that should be better soon.
Sound wise, I'm going with an external amp and sound card, so I can't really say how the stock amp in the Infill does. My car had the Shaker 500, the shop is going to continue to use the in door subs, but the speakers are being replaced as well.

Looks like someone else at a local meet grabbed a shot of the dash:
The ODB II scanner I got is wired. The cable it came with had a straight plug on the ODB II part, and extended far enough down to be annoying as my right leg would hit it. I found an ODB II extension cable that had a right angle plug instead that keeps it hidden, and allowed them to then mount the box in the rear. I need to put in the serial extender cable I have as well, so that one black cable visible can then be tucked up and out of the way.
Phone support is in beta for the StreetDeck software. The installer mounted the array microphone in the A pillar on the driver side, though I need to have them run the audio cable to the USB sound card. With it hooked to the Infill input, it doesn't know what sound is being played, so it can't filter it out, and a nasty echo loop starts unless I switch to half duplex for phone calls. Because of that, I haven't gotten a ton of use out of it yet.

That's some good stuff right there... that G4 though, it's pretty expensive, but you can't beat the factory look that an all in one unit brings vs. the put it together yourself versions...
