I could use your help out there....How do you remove the headrests? I want to have embroidery work done to them and rather than drive around with the foam showing for a week, I would like to remove the headrest completely until the work is completed. I assumed you would press the latch release on the side but that only allows the headrest to go back down after it's raised. Any ideas??????

Well, you can try 1_BULLITT's method or you can just pull them all the way up until they come out (at least that what the one's on my Mazda6 do and I'm sure they're very similar).

I know someone on here had that done and posted it but I can't remember who it was. Have you searched yet. It might be in the interior mods section but it's been a while since it was posted.

I just looked in that high price shop manual Pull the headrest all the way up. On the inboard side of the rest where it goes into the seat is a restraint. In that restraint is a hole. Insert a wire, drill or whatever and push to release. If you can't figure it out get a woman to do it. They can do anything with a coat hanger.
You owe me a cool one in Flat Rock. Now we all know how to do it. We need an 05 how to do it sticky.

I think Tom is right, hold in the button and pull em all the way out. I think I did it by accident already.
