How do I get this off?

This is on te drivers side of an 05. Im trying to run speaker wires through th door into the cabin. But this seems to be blocking the wires exit. I think its the stock amp. Ive removed a few bolts from it and the plate itts resting on and still cant get it off. Any help/suggestions?

UGH talk about a pain in the ***! I never removed my stock amps for that reason; I was able to get my speaker wire (from door speaker and new door sub) to snake through the boot (inside the boot, but above the wire connector) in the door jamb and down behind the plate on which the amp is mounted. I dont remember how i snaked the wire down, because it looks pretty tight back there, but I probably taped the wire to something, like a small ruler or a hanger or a paper clip thats been bent straight

What is keeping it from pulling out? Hidden bolt?

yep. There is one that is not visable above it. I can feel it but cant see it. Someone mentioned they were able to get at it with a deepwell socket. Im going to give that a try.

I wonder if the plastic spacers have retaining clips

The top nut will come out with a 1/4 ratchet and deep socket and the amp will pop right off with a small pry bar. I just did this 2 weeks ago without incident.

Yea I finally for it off! You were right about the pry bar, It took some convinving to pop it off. The plastic spacers seemed to have some kind of grove system to keep it from coming out. with that I dont know why they even bother putting nuts on it.

I kind of had a feeling about that when I looked at mine. I guess the plastic could eventually wear down and then you don't want an amp hangin by the wires.

True lol. But I would think you would have to pull that in and out an awful lot to have that start to happen.

The passanger side was so much easier, however I put everything back together and now nothing on the passanger side works(window, speakers, locks ect.). So I'm assuming the door harness didnt plug back in all the way. I'm going to check it when I get home from work. I hope thats all it is lol
