I still don't have my GT, but I did buy this new fancy Motorola bluetooth car kit I saw at CES to match up with my RAZR phone:

http://www.motorola.com/automotive/solution_blnc.html

It has features like voice recognition and very good call quality, etc. Anyway, my question is I need to install it to my Shaker 1000 system. Does the shaker 1000 have an audio mute wire that the kit can install to? Also will this cause any degradation in audio quality? At CES Motorola had this kit installed in a Cadillac XLR so I'm sure it should work fine. I partially know the answer to my question because Ford has it's own bluetooth aftermarket kit available through it's accessories store:

http://www.fordaccessoriesstore.com/fas/co...1863&detail=yes

To install that you have to install an audio harness to allow the kit to mute the car audio and play the call in the speakers. The problem is there are two different cell harnesses available. These 2:

Which harness should I buy for the Motorola kit?

Thanks for your help!

As far as the harness goes I'd guess you need the second one. It's designed to interface between the Ford radio and "most mobile phone car kits".

I wouldn't be too hasty with Mobile Ease. I tried, quite unsuccessfully, to get Mobile Ease info from a wide variety of Ford dealers. Most had no idea what I was talking about, and two of them offered to install it for over $700! Apparently, this is something with which they have no expertise & they farm it out to local installers. I contacted a 3rd party installer & he installed the Motorola bluetooth carkit, which appears to be identical in functionality to the Mobile Ease (uses voice recognition), and it works wonderfully! I couldn't be happier.

I am not sure which wiring harness he used, but it was one of the two. It took him about 2 weeks to receive it from Ford. My Shaker 500 does have an audio mute function, so I'm sure that the 1000 does as well, and no - there is no degradation in sound quality once installed. In fact, the car kit is only audible after the radio has been muted (muted automatically when you make or receive a call).

By the way, The installed price for the Motorola kit was about $300.

Hope this helps.

I'd be carefull about buying a bluetooth carkit.

Sure they are easy to install and you don't have to wire them to your phone but most phones that I've see don't support all the features when connected to bluetooth.

I have a bluetooth hands free for when I'm working, but in the car I use a proper carkit.

I was going to buy a bluetooth carkit until I bought my bluetooth hands free, then I went looking for a full carkit.

The sound quality is better and all the features work as advertised.

2 features that my phone has that don't work on a bluetooth connection are magic dialing and incomming call anouncement

I use them both in my car all the time.

The Mobile Ease kit will let you dial by number, from its internal phone book, or from the vioce recognition on the phone if the phone supports it. it works well with my BlackBerry the only thing is I can't access the phone book on it just the one on the system which is no problem for me. It will annouce that you have a incomming phone call. I haven't had it that long so I can say if it will announce who is calling if they are in your phone book. the motorola system I had would announce the person if they were in the phone book. It just didn't work well with my blackberry.
