I am looking for suggestions on a new stereo for my 2005 Torch Red GT with the standard stereo. I think I have it narrowed down to two recievers, and I was wondering if anybody has any suggestions on which one is better.

The JVC http://www.crutchfield.com/S-Fy3fvmKMU2b/c...62700&s=0&cc=01

or

The Sony http://www.crutchfield.com/S-h0DZesriJgy/c...00&I=158CDXF571

I plan to get the reciever and an SLP Loudmouth axel back to have ready for when my 'stang comes, and then after a while, get two 10" Kenwood subs, and new speakers, and an amp.

Thanks guys. :worship:

definately go with the JVC, dont get me wrong, i love sony, but i have a jvc deck, and i love it. Ive had other decks, and theres just a crispness there that others dont have. IMO, go with the JVC.

Definitely JVC... I've had great success with their components over the years.

I can't speak about JVC, but I WON'T buy Sony anymore. I've had reliability problems on the last 4 Sony purchases I (and my father) have made. The DVD player was the last straw when I searched online and found out there is a class action lawsuite against Sony because they kept using a known bad board design in DVD player after DVD player KNOWING it would only last for 12 to 18 months before it died.

If that's what Sony considers "quality" these days, I don't want any part of it! YMMV.

When purchasing aftermarket stereo equipment it is best to pretend that Sony does not exist. B)

Oh yeah, I forgot to ask.

The JVC has a motorized face plate, where the sony just flips down....... seems like that is a part that will break easily due to the fragile motors and arms that move it...... anybody have any comments on this?

I've got a motorized face plate on my Kenwood 919Z in my pickup. I've had it for going on 5 years now and I've never had one single glitch with it. But again, I can't (and won't!) speak about JVCs. Just don't know.

My buddy has a Sony motorized headunit. It is the worst crap I have ever used. Every single bump makes it skip. Stupid thing won't read half of my cd's. Plus don't forget all the recalls on the PS2

I have a Pioneer in mine. I swear by that thing. It can read every single one of my scratched to heck and back again disks.

I guess I am in the minority-I prefer Sony-Have had Sony Car audio for 23 years (all the way back to an XR66 in 1982 and a CDXR7-the first indash AM/FM CD unit) and the only faulty unit I have ever had was a CDXR-88 in 1988!. My current unit is a CDX-F7700 and it rocks!

Maybe I am just blessed-the best car with IMHO the best audio!

You must have been blessed to have a functional Sony product. All I've had is bad luck with their equipment. More power to you though.
