harness in map lights

I read it before, but cant find it now.

When I removed the map light console, there are 2 harnesses in there, one is for the map lights and such, but the other one isn't used. What is it for??
This is on my 07 gt
Thanks.

yeah mine is being used by the anti-theft motion sensor. If your car did not come with the option then the harness is not being used. I do not have any extra harness plugs left so i think the mirror was added later.

So either or?? If I wanted to do the mirror, I should be able to plug right into it then.

Just getting some ideas.

Thanks

the extra plug is for the motion sensors, the Electrochromatic rearview mirror was not a option from the factory, Ford does sell a couple of accessory kits that you can purchase, I have one that I installed in my car,
it's the self dimming mirror with the compass, you can also get one that has the homelink in the mirror, I didn't need the homelink because I installed the homelink unit out of the visor that was in a Lincoln Town Car into the upper console in my car, the mirror is hardwired into the main harness running into the smart junction box in the right side kick panel.

Thanks. That makes things a lot easier.

My car is at the dealer right now getting "fixed". The gauges died and the convertible top crapped out. Besides that, we have about 10" of snow right now and it is still coming down. Need to get my car in a garage soon.

Can you give me some more info on how the lincoln homelink install works? I would really like to do this. Also, do the buttoms have power when the car is off? Thanks for your help.

Edit: Sorry, just found the sticky. Not sure how I missed that. Nice mods though.
