GPS/Sirius antenna?

I don't use satellite radio but my '09 GT Premium comes standard with it. The new aftermarket touchscreen radio I'm installing has built in GPS. Anyone know if I can just use the Sirius antenna for GPS instead of installing the antenna that comes with the radio? The radio is a
Boss BV9386NV. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You will need the antenna for the gps as a stand alone. You have to use the separate antenna to make things work correctly. Sorry.

its a yes and no answer sadly, and not going to be the most direct either, as for the sat nav system, yes you can use the antenna and no you can't....

if the sat nav was built by the same MFG or makes the unit with the ability to use the sirius system then yes your sirius antenna should work, now if the unit is lets say a Ford OEM unit, then you will need to use the antenna built for the unit, when you buy a sat nav unit usually it will come as a kit that will include some sort of antenna that you can just use inplace of your sirius system, if your not planing on using sirius at all you would (do) have the option of removing the antenna (be careful it could be either a magnetic held with silicone, or 3m tape with silicone) but you could put what ever antenna that came with your system in its place if you wish...its up to you.

so short answer is really no you can't use the existing in place with what ever you bought....as far as Akdoggie he is correct in this respect if your unit is a different brand then the Sirius system (which most likely is the case)

That's a great aftermarket system. I always wondered how you update the maps on built-in Navigation systems....via SD Card?

It's gonna be a couple more weeks till I order the new unit, but from everything I read about it I believe a flash drive is all you need to update. The updates are downloadable and there are USB ports, but I'm not too savvy with computers lol.
