Getting welts! (Not what you think)

No, I'm not talking about bruises, I'm talking about the plastic trim pieces you can install in the door panels/roof panels to give your interior a little more "kick."

Here's what it looks like installed. Painted to match the body color, it looks very nice, IMHO.

This was done privately, but I'm looking for any commercial sources for welt that will fit the doors. It's been a tough go on Google. Anybody have any ideas? Anybody know of any interior shops that sell this?

So do you just pop the panel off and run the welt cord along the edge and reinstall the panel?

No, you just insert the welt in between the panel and the "leather" insert. There is a full blown write up about this somewhere on the forum. It gives the length needed, etc. I suggest just doing a search for "piping"

Hey pferd,

I'm glad you enjoyed the welts I installed on my '07 Grabber Orange GT.

I had to custom paint these because no one makes them in G.O.

You can see more information here;

I think the welting/piping looks amazing. I haven't seen anyone else put it around the speaker. I'm not sure if I like it completely, but for now it looks cool.

Yep, it looks really cool for those that have the charcoal interiors....... I already have the ICAP in red to match the exterior, so I'm already good on mine.

Wow...that looks pretty sweet...I have the charcoal interior as well...I wonder if I could find something close to Tungsten to use for accents...that would add some flair!

Thumbs up that's cool...

That looks so sweet!

I'll have to see if I can mod my car that way.

Do you have to do anything to glue it in place or is it held by friction?

Are you doing the blue pferd?

Yes, I was planning on going blue with it. A co-worker who is waiting for his 07 orange GT showed me those pictures of safarisun's orange welt/piping with the orange car, and I fell in love with it and have to have it.

Thanks for all the good info and links, everyone!!!

Hey thats nice, I need some.

A little off topic here but, theres a forum where someone said to remove those little black clips at the bottom of the doors, pinch both sides and pull, my dealer said they should have been removed, the clog the drain holes up.
