Gentex Mirror install

Hey guys,

I read a lot of the write ups on the installation and they are great. I know you runs the wires from the a pillar to the fuse box for power and then to the mirror. The wires in the A-pillar are hidden and they are hidden in the headliner, but what i dont understand is how they are hidden from the A-pillar to the fuse box? Do you remove the part of the dash?

Also once you run temp sensor wire through the firewall, how is the wire hidden from the firewall on its way up to the a-pillar?

Any help would be appreciated.

you need to run it through the gromet in the fire wall or cut a new one if you chose, I would never.... Anyway you can run it under/behind the dash easily and through the fire wall gromet and to anywhere in the engine bay you choose.

1) The trim panel around the passenger footwell kick panel fuse box doesn't go all the way up to the "A" pillar at all - you simply run the wires behind it and into the fuse block. You'll know it when you see it - simplicity itself!

2) I ran my temp sensor wire through the firewall along with the radio antenna wire, just squeezing the temp sensor wires through the grommet surrounding the antenna cable. Add a bit of silicon to weather proof your install and you're good to go.

Completely invisible installation.

Chad,

I bought mine from ebay seller ddave57 last December.

He has one now, doesn't have the temp but it is a new model with the Homelink.

Here it is:

This guy is great to deal with and I love my mirror.

You may have seen this thread before but it has a great deal of info about the buying and installing the Gentex mirrors.

http://forums.bradbarnett.net/showth...595#post703595

It specifically references my posts about ordering the Subaru mirror. Unfortunately the Subaru link there no longer works. Simply go to your local Subaru dealer and order part # H501SAG010. It is a Gentex mirror with compass and Homelink and it retails for $239.95 but I bought it for $191.96. The equivalent Ford mirror costs $350+! There is a similar mirror from Mazda and costs about the same as the Subaru mirror.

Good luck!

I would have liked it, but the price difference between the one with and without was almost $200, so it was not worth the difference. If the difference was less, I would have gone for it. Besides, I rarely use my garage opener.
