If it reflects the sunlight directly into your eyeballs like the one on my wife's altima then you are better off without it. I have had to drive with one hand blocking the glare more than once and it's not fun. Hopefully this one is different.

What annoyes me is the way they market the car and then you order to find out some of the features you like are not available. The 18" Fan blade rims is a perfect example.

Can't we all just be happy with the car? I mean, heck Ford could not even make the car and make us a lot more misreble... Let's not take this thing for granted.

Just curious, has anyone gotten their 05 with the Chrome trim around the Auto Shifter, or with the "Woven" Headliner?

One of the gt's we got in had a super low vin(under #2000) and it had the felt headliner. I did like that, oh well it will keep me from looking straight up while driving at least. They may have had complaints of glare from the shifter, that would make sense. I put a steeda one on my foci shifter and sometimes it hits you right in the eye or shines big time on the windshield.

No the headliner is not woven like the picture. It IS felt, but it doesn't look bad at all. The woven is much better, but I can definitely live with the felt.

I actually prefer the trim without the chrome. I think it looks overdone with the chrome around the aluminum.
I bet if you didn't see the one with the chrome, you would be perfectly happy with the black trim.

To save nickels and dollars for bottom line, how stupid that is. Just pass the cost to customer. What the heck is $25 - 50 or even 200 more the something to look great. I for one, really wish the car had more options. Kick it up a knoch or two Ford!

hehe...and even the real power was over-rated and the cars needed to be recalled.

Yes. My point was that it is not economical for Ford to offer options that not many people will order.

Before we all jump to conclusions and throw everyone at Ford under the bus we may want to consider some other alternatives:

1. They may have had quality issues with executing certain items. This is typically found during launch which leads to changes.

2. Their suppliers may have failed certain Process Validation tests which are required before J1. If this is the case, Ford will revert to another material or execution that passes the key life tests.

3. Supplier may go out of business. This is the case with the headliner material. The fabric supplier decided to leave the automotive business causing Ford to revert to another material.

Do you have data to support your assertion that not many people would order additional options?

This is part of the reason Ford has been losing sales to import manufacturers. Imports are more popular because they're generally better built and offer the kinds of features that people want.

Perhaps if Ford were to offer some additonal options/quality, they could sell this new Stang beyond its constiuent fan base, hence increasing sales and making more money. The early rush to buy this car now on the part of enthusiasts is certainly not an acid test of its long-term popularity or broad-based appeal. This isn't 1964 anymore; we're in global competition now and we'd better offer products that can compete.

This new Stang is a great design and platform - I see no reason why Ford can't offer an upscale package(s) to lure more buyers who would otherwise stick with imports. Perhaps in the next couple of years they will.
