In a previous discussion on this, someone suggested making the whole dash the shiftlight. Pick your base mycolor, your shift mycolor, have at it.

That would be cool.

Now THAT would be sweet...lets figure out how
The gas guage can do it when the gas gets low...so why not....someone needs to call SCT and get them to dig!

The short answer is that it is not possible to hack into system to reconfigure the telltale to work as programmable shift light a la the Shelby GT500.
The shift light in the IP cluster was put in there to protect for the need to have a shift light in order to meet our fuel economy target. We were able to meet this w/o the shift light so we elected not to use it. The programmable shift light in the Shelby is wired into message center (unlike the other telltale on base Mustangs) which enables drivers to program it to optimal shift points for performance.

I still like the suggestion of changing the entire mycolor color when you hit your shift point. If someone could figure out how to do that... awesome. I would perhaps be concerned with how fast the switch can take place, and also the computer would have to be able to monitor the RPM accurately enough. I would assume that if it will work on the Shelby (though not in this manner) that the computer has access to the RPM, we'd just need the necessary software. Car software is not nearly so open as regular software, though (probably to make it harder to break), so it's not like we can just drop a couple of lines of code in there and recompile
