Ok so while installing my new headunit today, I noticed 2 wire harnesses that dont seem to be doing anything.

One is just laying under my center console not connected to anything.

The other is in the middle of the left three button places directly opposite the hazard light button. You cant even press that thing in so I cant understand what purpose it serves.

 

Do you have the Interior Upgrade Package? If not, the extra harnesses are probably for the Message Center buttons that come with that package (Info; Setup; and Reset).

 

If you don't have the Shaker 1000, one of the harnesses is probably the rear sub harness.

 

If you have a manual transmission, the unused harness in the console probably connects to the Auto Transmission selector

 

That makes sense. I think I have read that somewhere. Probably its just were the auto lights up?

 

well the one on the other side of the hazard is def. the harness for the MYColor which means you have the choice to get it still by going to the dealer and buying it and having them install it ( which i plan to do to mine as well since a yellow mustang). W/O the harness i dont think its possible and i think the newer 'stangs dont come with it unless they got IUP.
