I have the dark charcoal non leather interior in my 07 GT. My wife owns a 2007 Ford Edge also with the dark charcoal non leather interior. I've always hated the headrests in the mustang and I was cleaning the inside of the Edge a few days ago and realized how much smaller the rear headrests in the edge were. So i got the bright idea to swap them and tada....they match perfectly. For you leather guys, I'm sure the black leather from an Edge would match the leather Mustang seats. I found the headrests on FastPartsNetwork for $93 each.

Just curious, for those doing mods to the headrests. If you were to get into an accident and let's say you get whiplash or some serious neck injury, wouldn't modifying the headrest give the insurance company the right to deny any claim, as well as any potential lawsuits?

If the headrests were missing or obviously modified, I could see that maybe the adjuster would deny the claim.
However, these are factory units that to the average joe, look appropriate for the vehicle.
Also, they are original equipment on the rear seats of the Edge SUV, so to deny a claim based off of the headrest is bad logic. If I was sitting in the rear seat of my Edge and got rear ended, I'd be using the same headrest and therefore would have the same possible neck problem.
Consider if you swapped out your stock seats for Recaro bucket seats. Your same logic of the adjuster denying the claim could apply yet many still swap out the seats.
My personal opinion was I hated the stock headrests with a passion, so the possible compromise in crash safety for daily comfort is acceptable to me.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Most insurance adjusters wouldn't know the difference, and if it went to litigation, the insurance company would have to prove that the stock headrest would've prevented the injuries sustained while the replacement headrest was being used. Hey, it's a great alternative to having no headrest or flipping the stock one around.
