Can you make mp3 disc's with windows media player? Or do I need to buy some softeware to make them? I've nevered bothered making mp3's before, I know they sell specific software to do it but why bother if you can do it with wmp.

Thanks.

Not with Winamp, but there are plenty of free ones you can download that will do the job. I use Musicmatch Jukebox 9.0.

If you have Windows Media Player 10, it will burn mp3 disks as well. And so long as you have Windows XP, it's free.

So it will! Good information, Maverick. I just went to their website and downloaded Media Player 10 (had 9.0 previously), and it works great. Just tested it on a ZZ Top CD, and it ripped all the tracks to MP3's in a matter of seconds...I do believe it's faster than the freeware version of Jukebox I'd been using. Thanks!

Nynvolt, there's another option for ya.

There are lots of software programs available to burn MP3's. Some of the ones that come to mind are Windows Media Player, WinAmp, Roxio, Nero, iTunes, or MusicMatch Jukebox (MMJ). I have used all of these, but I am partial to MMJ because it gives me better control over the MP3 tag information that shows up in the Shaker 500 display. The basic operation is to start up the software program, then load a normal Music CD into the computer. You then 'rip' each track into an MP3 file that gets stored on your computer hard-drive. Lots of the programs will have features for including song information before the tracks are ripped. This way your MP3 file will be named with the song name, and possibly the artist or album name. After you rip a bunch of tracks, then you will want to burn them onto a CD so you can play them in the Mustang. Using the same software, you want to create a MP3 CD, or Data-CD. This is different than a normal Music-CD. You can burn about 10 albums onto a MP3 CD. If you need a better explanation of all this - just do a search on the internet, or read the help section in your software program. Also - here is a link that tells you how to get the MP3 tracks to display the song information if you use MMJ:

MusicMatch Jukebox - Display Song Information on the Shaker 500

Hey, thanks so much for the info.

I tried using the music match, never bothered to use that program before. After taking what seemed like an eternity, I ended up just making a regular CD burn and gave up. Going to tinker with it some more.

Sorry things did not work out for you on the first go. Making disc's of music is a chore for sure. My biggest problem is trying to decide which songs to go on a disk. This problem is compounded when the songs are MP3's because you can fit so many on a disk. If you decide to try again, and hit a snag, just PM me and I will help out. B)

Sorry to bump this, but I figgured it out. Wow got ten cd's on one disc! My whole Zepplin collection. Can't wait to get all my purchased CD's done up like this. I keep about 30 burned CD's in m car, a constant hassle digging through them to find what I want, this is fantastic.

Thanks so much for your help!
