I swapped out my base radio for a Pioneer DEH-P80MP with XM and replaced the 4 stock speakers with POLK 5x7 3ways The sound is incredible, even without an amp. The best part was rewriting the display movie for my own custom text graphic . Pics are not the greatest but the text actually moves in a "wave" motion.

Nice. Do the polks fit in the stock holes?

Fit very easy, just not used to having to remove entire door panel to install speaker....I am showing my age

But remember, I ordered my GT with base radio so I am only dealing with 4 speakers, I did not like the way the door subs protruded on 500 and 1000

Which polk speakers did you use? (model number). I thought that I remembered reading that the holes in the door had to be modified to get aftermarket speakers to fit. Although the holes may be different with the Shaker 500 speakers, which is what I have.

I used Polk DB570s they call them 5x7/6x8 and I had to open up the holes in the speakers just a small bit

I basically did the same thing.
Pioneer TSD681 (the best 5X7 I'ver ever heard) and the Pioneer DEH-P8600. Super easy install and the sound is 200% better than stock and 100% better than the skipper systems.

do you have a shot of the head unit from a bit further back so we can see the entire center stack? Just want to see an overall vibe on the flow.
