It's a change Ford did for the 2008 model year. Looks better in person then I thought it would. Goes real well with other chrome trim pieces.......

Here's a pic.......

These are part of the actual head unit. The phone button is for quick mute when your phone rings.

Do you think they will be able to be purchased separately and installed on the 06?

You should look into the MGW pieces, they look sweet.
The radio **** matches the vent bezels perfectly.

I guess you taught me something about my own stereo!

Kind of funny all those little changes. Like on my 05 V6, the defrost button is where the air recirulation button. Kind of threw me when I reached over for it the first time when I got my 08 GT.

I bet it'll be easier to just purchase an 08 Shaker head unit after someone swaps it out for an aftermarket one. Stock head units usually sell for pretty cheap on Ebay. I'm going to be keeping my eyes peeled for one, I really like the trim rings as well.

The Shaker 500 in my 08 GT seems to sound better then the Shaker 500 I had in my 05 V6. I'm not sure what exactly?

The head unit is the same as the 07 one. I just bought my 07 in Nov. and the only difference in the 07 and 08 is the chrome rings.

I found a takeoff on ebay over the winter - also, has been the only one I have seen posted on ebay. Little more than I wanted to spend on a radio to replace an existing working radio, but after installed, WELL WORTH the upgrade of my 2005 stock radio. If you do find a takeoff, you'll need an adaptor for the radio antenna plug.

How much did it run you? Just to get an idea. I checked today and there aren't any on ebay with the chrome rings.

I want to say these come from Ford for at least in upwards of $500. I have also been watching for another takeoff and have not found another. I'd expect $150 to $300 off of ebay. Whether you're willing to spend that cash and forgo yet another performance upgrade is up to you. I thought a little over $200 was a lot, but after installation, still, NO REGRETS. Good luck with your takeoff search!
